Of course I guess they made enough during the year to get a #2 seed and win him SN College Basketball Coach of the Year, so there's that...

I believe the current coaching staff is doing a good job at all three. We all want to win more games in the NCAA tournament but I don't want to do that at the expense of 2 and 3.

The fulfillment of bullet point 3 is the responsibility of the players, no one else.

I would think coaches and ADs with academic performance incentives in their contracts would probably disagree.

Fine, but there should be enough motivation on the individual students without the coaches having to hover over them.

The tournament is a crapshoot but no matter how many times people hear that, they refuse to believe it.
There are things you can do to improve your luck, getting higher caliber players, taking on a certain scheme; but the fact is, we're not going to just up and decide to be a blue blood.
Nobody just decides that, it's organic. The culmination of many factors, I don't think firing the guy is a guarantee of landing in a better place but I can see the argument of our potential being capped. What comes into play as far as I'm concerned isn't necessarily the limitations of Mick Cronin, but the limitations of UC. This isn't the 90s anymore and in all likelihood, it's never going to be again.

I'm by no means not looking forward to this coming season, nor am I in the camp of wanting to oust Mick. Mick's still young and I expect him to continue to develop as a coach. In the meantime, he keeps this program respectable on and off the court.

I understand there's luck involved in the tournament, but that's what made this one so crushing: the tournament broke our way in historic fashion and we all know the rest.

Mick's immediate comments afterword didn't help; I want him to take ownership of his team's failures, learn from them, and strive to prevent them in the future.

A better than expected football season and time have helped heal my fan esteem.

The fact is, a shot or two that rolled out goes in that Nevada game and nobody is saying ****. The idea that this "broke us" is precisely why I don't take people complaining seriously. He can't make the shots for them, there's no guarantee any time you step on the floor, no matter who you are. We won a lot last season, just because misfortune hit us at a bad time doesn't negate that. Some people need to pull their undies out of their crack. Not saying the guy is perfect, but he got us to a 2 seed(not far from a 1) and put the kids in a position to win and go far(provided they ousted Nevada.) They didn't get a roll a two. Happens...

Bad matchup (Harvard), dunk late St Joe, blown 22 point lead and on and on.

Okay, so when we went to the sweet 16 in 2012 did he magically become worse the following year? What about the years you're not mentioning? As for the blown 22 point lead, did you expect the other team to just lie down and die? We all knew they would make a surge back into the game.
There's such a thing as dumb luck. People exist who've been struck by lightning more than once. Not because they sat out in the storm with lightning rods in each hand either.
If you want to suggest replacements, go ahead. But I doubt anyone who would take the job can take this school higher at the moment.

OK, I get it. When Mick makes the S16 he's brilliant, when he doesn't it's just bad luck. SMDH

Mick doesn't make the sweet sixteen. Mick doesn't win or lose the games. Mick isn't why we lost last year as Mick isn't the one who's on the floor executing.
If you want to say he recruited the kids, so did the Golden State Warriors in the last draft. So...
Life isn't fair, you're always welcome to do the millennial thing, just lie down and quit. But things won't ever pan out exactly as we hope.
The universe is indifferent, grow some thicker skin.
