Among revelations in court this afternoon, documents suggesting Christian Dawkins paid $5,000 to Collin Sexton and another calling for $1,500 per month to Sexton, $21,000 for travel for his family and a four year job for his brother ($35,000 per year, with $5,000 annual raise).

Good thing their football program is squeaky clean, or else this could get rough. If UAT is found guilty of misdeeds in Hoops, our Football team could lose post-season eligibility.

This crap is nothing new for that program. Some of our former coaches enlightened me to what goes on. Also working with high schools like I do sometimes you see and hear things. Tip of the iceberg with Bama and Auburn. No one cares and looks the other way.

+1,000 . I've heard a lot of similar stories about them from many angles.

They've got to be looking at last season being wiped out, right? This is exponentially more money than Wiley & Purifoy received at Auburn. I think the whole agent, and not the school, giving them money comes into play here and keeps Avery safe like it mostly did for Bruce.

Hate it for them.
I was hoping the staff would try and win the right way.
Not shocking.

They will get off Scott Free because the NCAA doesn't want to get sued again and will cup the balls.

They let Auburn off on the logic that Chuck Person broke federal law, not NCAA rules (oh yeah, they made two guys ineligible for a year and canned Lew's brother . . . that'll show 'em).

Person, meanwhile, is basing his defense on the premise that he broke NCAA rules, not federal law.

Yes, really, this is a thing that is actually happening. Now watch it work, and the program that hired a guy under a show-cause order AND the guy who paid players on behalf of show-cause guy ("I never knew!") both walk away untouched.

I'll place my chips on "no meaningful action" for bammer, too. They'll declare the guy who already went pro ineligible and make bammer fire the assistant videotape cleaner.

I agree that there's no way the NCAA actually hits them hard, however I find it difficult to believe that last season won't be wiped out for them. We're looking at roughly the same amount money and the same amount of evidence provided that caused the NCAA to suspend Wiley & Purifoy.

What exactly for Bama BB could be "wiped out"? I don't recall an NCAA Tournament run last season. Is there a lot of money for the NIT or the SEC Tournament at stake?

ANY major program - and perhaps some smaller ones - are threatened by actions of manipulating agents and rogue boosters, the former looking for a big payday at a later date. Regarding the latter, it might be interesting to be that "fly on the wall" to hear those multimillionaires in the privacy of their skyboxes brag to each other about the players they procured for their chosen program.

Paying a player to play makes him an ineligible player. It's a no-brainer that said player *should* be ineligible, and playing an ineligible player normally gets the games he participated in expunged.

Not that anything much is actually going to happen over it.

Auburn hired a coach under a show-cause order, after which said coach's top assistant paid multiple players to come to Auburn. "Suspending" those players is a laughable penalty: if they were paid, they are not eligible. Period. And can never play again. Yet they will this fall. That's no penalty, compared to the offense, and therefore on the same plane as what bammer will "suffer."

The only meaningful penalty for what Auburn has done involves a single B-29 flying over Beard-Eaves Coliseum on a sunlit morning.

Beard-Eaves? You might want to instruct your pilots to target where they actually play.

As long as it's inside the blast radius, it's all good.

Agree. Would love to pilot that B-29. After Auburn Arena strike I turn “Fifi” towards Tuscaloosa.
