Luke Fickell AAC Media Teleconference
Seriously, only one question for coach? I realize we had a blowout win, but surely there are some more questions to ask. Nobody curious about the status of Doaks or Garrett Campbell? Nobody had any questions about what he said at halftime that led to putting his team on a run in the 3rd quarter?

Doaks had surgery. Doesn't sound like he would be back anytime soon if at all. Campbell's ankle is broken. Status uncertain as well.

THIS

was coming on here to share this same update info.

Campbell is prolly all but done. Maaaybe end of the season, or bowl game. Gotta feel for the kid. He came back for the Cats, he's put in the work. He's an exemplary Bearcat.

Sorry to hear that about Campbell.

Regarding Doaks, if he's out for awhile whose redshirt do we burn? Thomas? McClellan?

Both.

We will continue to see the same rotation throughout the rest of the season.

Don't think either were ever redshirt candidates to begin with. Thomas is way too talented to redshirt and McClellan offers something the others don't.

You see with Doaks the downside of a healthy redshirt. If he doesn't play this year he will only get three seasons of PT vs the four he would of had if he played year one.

We still have Boose, if they want to redshirt one. Not sure they want to though.

They're not redshirting McClellan or Thomas.

The plan was to RS Thomas.

He's more in the mold of Warren & Doaks, so the thought was no need to have another similar back in the rotation.

They wanted to create some class separation, which makes sense.

Obviously that is over now.

Are you talking about season-ending or career ending? There's a big difference.

I guess there's degrees, but I would think if a broken ankle takes Eifert out for the NFL season, then it probably does the same for Campbell for UC. Unfortunately for him that would make it college career ending since I don't think anyone has ever gotten a 7th year.

Yeah I definitely would have preferred to be able to spread some of these guys' eligibility out (Thomas in particular) but I think our hands are getting kinda tied. Maybe we could get by this year with just Warren, Thomas and Boose but to my eyes, McClelland seems capable of bringing a different level of speed and quickness than maybe the others can.
