Ridder
Curious what some of the more talent evaluators think about Ridder and his future here, also about his pro potential? Or is he more just going to be a good college QB? He clearly has good size (6-4) and good athletecism (not insane but above average), and appears to be a good decision maker. I am not sure we have seen enough yet to tell if he has NFL level arm strength and accuracy with the deep ball, but there have been very many effective college QBs without that trait, and even some effective NFL QBs as well. The good thing is he is only a freshman and has room to improve.

No idea about the future but it's obvious that you don't bet against Dez. The kid appears to have the success gene. Gotta love kids like him who keep grinding.

Four years to find out. He throws a beautiful ball and seems to have a big arm.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Ben Bryant. Could be an interesting battle in the future.

If he's here for 4 years. It is crazy to think about though, and hopefully Bryant stays along as well. Everything I have heard is that Bryant is pretty impressive as well.

RE: Ridder
You can't coach athleticism but you can coach the kid up on QB IQ. He has more than enough athleticism and size. He has a calmness, steadiness about him as well. So, the areas he can improve on he will continue to get from the staff and from live game experience. The future is bright and the upside is potentially big but it's too early to know for sure just yet. His passing stats through 5 games:

67 CMP
100 ATT
67 CMP%
888 YDS
8.9 Y/A
8 TDS
1 INT
1 FUM
166 QBR - Ranked #18 in FBS

Rushing:
52 ATT
250 YDS
4.8 Y/A
3 TDS

RE: Ridder
I haven't seen a lot of progression through his reads from Ridder yet. However, he is better than we have had recently.

RE: Ridder
He made an excellent checkoff at the line of scrimmage on one of the earlier touchdowns. He spotted the weak side gap and called Warren's number and he waltzed in. We saw some of Moore's issues early when he got in. He was slightly indecisive on the option read and it ended up on the ground which fortunately he got back. Ridder runs a lot like a wr which is a definite plus He won't out run everyone, but he's definitely dangerous in the open field. He threw a couple really nice balls yesterday particularly the td drop to Lewis which were perfect throws. His touch is definitely getting better down field with more reps.

The six inches between his ears is very impressive, especially for such a young guy. He has a QB brain, which is the most important thing. Doesn’t panic, reads defenses, makes good decisions very quickly.

Been impressed with his poise. Seems like the offense has been pretty vanilla, but we see a little more out of him every week. Completion % and TD to INT ratio is excellent.

Good things happen when the QB,and RB, don't hand the ball to the opposing team on a weekly basis. And that bad snap Saturday with our sudden change in the center position was just one unfortunate incident for all involved.

Preseason, I had no idea someone as talented as Ridder was right behind Moore on the depth chart. Credit this staff for Ridder's development but what we're really seeing in terms of poise and leadership is surely innate.

Given UC's history with QBs and injuries, I'm certain he'll get his shot in the next few seasons. I think Hayden last year was the first QB in a long time to start and play significant time in all 12 games.

I may be forgetting a year, but I think its the first time since Ben Mauk in 2007.

Pretty sure Ben missed a couple of games early that year.

2006 Grutza was healthy all year but Davila took over

Mauk may have left the Marshall game with an injury, but it looks like he played in every game in 2007 according to Sports Reference

And yet you've picked him to lose every game. That has to hurt the kid.

Oh, and please keep picking against the Bearcats.
