Alabama refuses to play outside of its bubble and won't do home and home series. Attendance will continue to be an issue as nobody wants to stick around to see Alabama pummel a WAC,CUSA,Sun Belt or MAC school.
Why should they play outside their bubble? Hell, they essentially finished 3rd in their conference last year and sat at home on Championship weekend and still got picked for the playoffs. The system is rigged.

RE: Homecoming Attendance
I think if ever a student whose fees support the athletic programs gets aced out of a seat by a student from another university, that would be a HUGE problem.

I already said that there was no problem with it, but don't blame the fans when they don't wanna stick around to see you beat Southern Missouri, or FIU. Alabama, much like the other elite programs are extremely boring to watch outside of 2 or 3 games a year. Fans are not going to stick around in a stadium when they could be watching better games at home, or doing other things.

Another thing I noted in the same thread was that Tulane opens up student tickets for all their home athletic events to students at Xavier University of Louisiana (this is the school located in New Orleans, not to be confused with the school in Norwood, Ohio). Interesting concept... I wonder if we need to consider that for students at one of the local colleges (do we have such a deal with Cincinnati State/Tech or whatever it is called now?-- what about NKU, Thomas Moore or Mount St. Joe's?). This is not just football related, I am referring to all sports.
Pretty sure Notre Dame does that with St. Marys College as well. But there is also one common theme, they're all private schools.

RE: Homecoming Attendance
As others have brought up:
Major League Baseball attendance dropped 4 per cent this year, continuing a steady decline for “America’s Pastime.” It’s the lowest league-wide attendance since 2003 and the largest single-season drop in a decade.
What does that mean for a team’s bottom line? Bloomberg News crunched some numbers to get a better understanding. While some clubs saw a jump in attendance, 17 of the 30 franchises sold fewer tickets than they did last year. Using average ticket prices from Team Marketing Report, that comes to about US$93.7 million in lost ticket revenue in 2018.
