the flat fact that the powers that be are preventing UCF from the playoff ABSOLUTELY proves two things:

the notion that there is a p6 is an utter delusion.

the playoff concept in general was just another structure of the status quo

I tried my very best to explain that to my former conference brothers, but, for the most part, they were deceived.

This week has been UCF's worst nightmare. They looked bad on Friday night, USF got annihilated, and Houston is currently getting beat by SMU in the 4th quarter. SOS takes another bad hit.

Yep. The AAC is weak. That usually plays out in Bowl season when the AAC teams get trounced by other G5 schools. Houston had no business in the AP poll, they were losing to Rice and Tulsa in those games earlier this year.

Houston defense is terrible, even with the starters in (Ed Oliver) Rice and Tulsa move the ball on them

Houston lost to Texas Tech who is probably a 7-5 Big 12 team, and UCF barely beat a Memphis team that was blown out by Mizzou and barely beat an ECU team that lost to an FCS team. I see nothing that makes me confident at any level UCF is a top 4 team. Could you tell me with a straight face based on what we've seen so far they deserve to be in over Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Georgia, and Oklahoma? Nope.

If you want a shot at the CFP, play better P5s than Maryland and Pitt. Honestly, the AAC needs to stop embarrassing themselves with this "Power 6" nonsense and band together with the other G5 leagues to push for an expansion of the playoff.

Top 4 teams do not give up almost 700 yards of offense to a 5-3 G5 team that lost to a mediocre FCS team.

No but a top 3, ND does struggle, and have to come from behind to beat a Pitt, 19-14, that UCF blew out 45-14 the week before. The P5 needs to quit talking the P5 nonsense.

Sure, because the transitive property really exists in college football. Notre Dame also beat Michigan. You have ZERO top ten, hell, top 20 wins. Do you even have a top 25 win?

You do realize that „strength of schedule“ is simply a form of „the transitive property“, right?

Throw out transitive property altogether, and UCF is top three automatically.

Unless you want to use athletic budget for your SoS calculation (which is probably closest to the actual formula the committee uses)

UCF "looked bad"?

If "looking bad" means torching good defenses for 52 points, winning by 12, and beating 5-3 teams that beat down Maryland and nearly knocked of BC - sign me up every game to "look bad".

Newsflash: Temple has a VERY good QB and they literally threw the kitchen sink at us. Once Strong got a feel for it, UCF then shut them down for 6 point in the 2nd half.
