As I stated Sat, Groulx played one series the 2nd qtr, when Elon had their 3 play TD “drive”. On Elon’s last 4th qtr TD drive R Carter moved down to DT and Greene came out. Other than those 2 series, it was #15 Black & #92 Greene the whole game at DT..If Greene was also subbed out on that 2nd qtr series, Black went the entire game without being subbed.

Yes, I agree the extra worload played a role. I bet it was a large part in Summers having a field day..

Why does a defensive line get more tired than the offensive line? I have never understood that claim. They both are engaged with each other. The d line might run a little more chasing the ball carrier. Just not sure it is enough to make a difference.

Isn't the point that there's a lack of depth, so they can't get subbed out to catch their breath from time to time? A tired player in that heat isn't going to perform as well.

I've been right there with you, even after we got Moye from UVA. Mainly because we lost both DTs from last year and the two returning ones did not get meaningful playing time last year. It got compounded when Moye left, leaving us w/ just Black ( a converted DE) Greene and Atariwa. Our margin for error is razor thin there. It elevates everyones play when those guys don't have to be out there 95% of the game.

I remember playing King of the Hill as a kid, when kids went outside at 8 am and played til dark. It was easier to repel and protect and toss aside, than it was to push and overcome. (and of course it is easier to "hold" and get away with it.)

I thought that was the center's job to alter blocking schemes. I am sure the QB has some responsibility there too, but QB's if allowed audible plays.....the center typically makes blocking changes.

Elon has pedestrian personnel and very few would crack JMU’s starting lineup. We haven’t covered the full list of player mistakes yet because there were soooooo many to count, But Houston didn’t do well against Cignetti.

I still can’t process the fact that JMU completely shut down Elon on 3rd down only allowing 1-15 conversions. That usually equates to a blowout victory. For therapy I think I’m going to compile a list of things that went wrong that permitted Elon to pull the monster upset.

Ouch, I was beginning to accept the loss and start to think about happy things going forward. Now I find out it was the 3rd biggest upset in college football history according to the final line which was -37.5

Howard over UNLV as 45 point dogs
Stanford over USC as 40 point dogs
Elon over JMU as 37.5 point dogs

It will live in infamy.
