Women's Cross Country at Roy Griak Invitational
Rice women finished 8th of 14 schools at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota. The Owls were led by freshman Ryann Helmers, who finished 7th overall. Sophomore Lourdes Vivas di Lorenzi was 19th, junior Khayla Patel was an uncharacteristic 43rd, and freshman Ashley Messineo was 53rd.

The team this year is very young (no seniors), and the big question is whether or not someone emerges as a 5th runner. But this freshman Helmers is the real deal.

RE: Women's Cross Country at Roy Griak Invitational
The men ran at Louisville this morning, and did not have a good race, finishing just 10th of 29 in a not too strong field.

Hociel Landa was 23rd, Alex Topini was 41st, and Clay Musial 60th.
