Read 3 entire pages in the local paper about the game and the only sentence that mattered was "Once Memphis cut it to a 3 point game, Darrell Henderson touched the ball 1 more time". Apparently, our coaches didn't learn a thing from the Navy game. That being said, I still think we can get to 7 or 8 wins & a minor bowl game. Only 8 seniors on this team, so just keep getting better and look towards making a run at it next season.
In the meantime, to cheer myself up, I think I will join 18,000 others and a bunch of 4 & 5 star recruits Thursday night at FEF. All is not lost.

That's all fine, just don't drop the football team next weekend. They need us to continue to show up. WE need ourselves to show up. We need our fan base to get to that next level.

Season ticket holder for both sports again (dropped basketball last year, just couldn't stomach Tubby). We'll be there Saturday boozing it up on Tiger Lane. Like I said, still think we can win 7-8 and go to Cure, B'ham/ Ft Worth type bowl. Norvell & co just have to keep recruiting and building. This is still better than the Larry Porter years and the end of West's run.

Will we regroup?
Is it impossible for Memphis basketball and football to be good at the same time?
Thoughts on the future, GO
memphis fans are stubborn but i gave plenty of warnings in the offseason
1) i have never seen a offense struggle in spring that has ended up dominant in fall....despite being maliciously attacked by memphis fans, i tried to point this out in the offseason
2) "We return everything but qb" i remember pointing out in pass heavy offense the biggest and deciding factor of the team is qb..it doesnt matter what you return, it is how is the qb....
literally the exact same roster, went 16-1 in keenum last games as starter, that exact same team went 2-7 when he was injured (everything else the same)
power running teams are the are the type of teams that feel very little effects from rotating players
with that said, the key is simply finding a new qb or developing the one you currently have to play better
keep thinking tulane is bad. thats a mistake. if i recall, they beat houston last year.
we'll get a good barometer on Tulane this week against Cinci.

Our historic problem has been following up solid games with more solid games. Typically we get complacent and fall apart, so we'll see. One thing's for sure, man am I tired of losing close games. Last season 3 of our 7 losses were by a COMBINED 6 points. Already this year we've lost a game by just 6 in overtime.
