It's funny, I only know one guy that is a Michigan alum. And he is the prototype of what you describe.
A U of M Alum will let you know that he went to that school within the first minute of a conversation.

I'm more annoyed by the hordes of U of M fans that have no connection to that school other than being a fan. Many are grads of other schools, especially EMU, WMU, and WMU. Pretenderines.
You can't blame them. They probably grew up rooting for Michigan. I respect that more than a lebron james type who likes Yankees and cowboys. Fairweather non regional fans
