The really really short list of things to question HCMH about is his tendency to leave in the starters in games that are out of hand. With that, and I may be overthinking this, I'm going to take a stab at being devil's advocate.
It looks like the last 2 weeks we brought in a backup QB the first series after they did. I've wondered if this isn't related to our UNH experience 2 years ago. Maybe it's saying that if you want to call off the dogs we will, but we're not going to throw our subs in against your first team until we're at the point where there just isn't time enough left for you to catch up no matter what happens?

Still doen't explain the passing with a 40+ lead though. :-)

This might be a good place to insert UNH coach McDonnell screaming F bombs across the field as JMU was pounding them with no mercy.

And given UNH's antics to steal the game up in NH after JMU had gone up by a score of 42 to something a lot less during the regular season, I fully endorsed MH putting the wood to UNH in the playoffs. This year I hope JMU puts 100 on the Wildcats. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Yep, no reason to call off the dawgs on UNH ever again. Keep on pounding until the clock expires.

IMO, it's not just good sportsmanship (which is subject to history) but also prudent to get game experience for your subs. Sooner or later they'll be needed, either by injury or graduation, and there's no reason not to see what the 2nd team can do in a game you're winning by 30 points.

Our second team could have tacked another 14 or so on RU, and probably will on UNH too.

UNH has demonstrated why you should never, ever take your foot off the gas against them, and I'm pretty sure HCMH won't until the very end.

If the opposing team insists on calling all out blitzes in the 4th quarter against our backups, we absolutely should throw the ball.

Indeed. I think you should either "go easy" or "play the subs", but not really both. If the subs are in, you might as well have them playing realistic football.

Why are we still talking about RU, didn't they drop football after our game?

Apparently they dropped it before our game. We did admire the wall hangings of players on the sides of the breadbox on the way out and mused as to whether just setting those up on the field could have offered a stiffer resistance.

Anyone else realize WMgt played us net 2 pts tougher? Lol

I heard they tried to score a touchdown after we left and couldn’t do it.

My wife saw a tweet from a VCU fan after the game and it said "Don't feel bad Richmond, we don't have a football team either".

Got a good laugh out of that one!!

Agreed. We are in the same conference. If you can't stop our 2nd or 3rd string, too bad. There's no reason to let our backup QB come in and have him handoff to our 5th string RB for an off-tackle right behind our 2nd string O-line. Run the playbook and if they score, you should feel bad because you are bad. Blowouts are really the only times when young players get time in real games...no need to limit what they're allowed to do.

The starters needed the work with losing 3 quarters at Norfolk State. I thought it was great that they played for the first 6 minutes of the 4th. The other side of the argument is risking injury against a team that is being humiliated and may take a cheap shot. We are more physical from the top to bottom so I was not worried about anyone at UR being more physical.

The cheap shot happened on Jimmy’s pick six. It drew a flag. UR o lineman came diving in at R Carter’s knees. He and we were lucky that the bone headed shot did not end his season.
