Too out of shape. But I love the guy's attitude and character. He has all the potential to be a great, 4-year Blazer.

As long as he can absorb and distribute fouls in the paint, he'll have a good role in year one. Who was the truck load of a kid for UCLA that beat us singlehandedly, Parker I think ? Jude is about his size.
Edit: It was Tony Parker, and Jude is almost spot on the same size as Parker. - 6'9" / 260

I think he plays as we play 11 guys. I think we won't hesitate to play Jude like we did with Thomas as the fifth big. I think we won't play Hurtado as he's the 12 guy and a guy we could release for another guard ( Galen Alexander JCJC LSU bounceback/ Travion Lamar JuCo).

I think he's the guy we're after at Jones county jc, or it could be former utep big Tirius Smith( I think that's his name).
Would still need another big, but Alexander is too good to pass up from a recruiting stand point.

I wish we would play Gueye at the three.
But he's a part of a good frontcourt maybe the strength by season's end.
These guys reminds me of Lee,Foz,C.J., Tosin, and Coke

The biggest guy I have ever seen in Bartow was Derrick Caracter for UTEP. That guy was an absolute beast. I think he played in that time frame where we would go to triple OT with them every game it seemed.

Wait until you see Bennett from Marshall. I would guess(hope) that Jude is in better shape than him.

Lamar picked Georgia Southern over UAB this evening......
Because I saw it in another post: Iran Bennett at Marshall. we were heavy after him in late summer 2016. Grades were going to be an issue. Commits to Marshall. Has to redshirt last season due to ineligibility. He’s listed at 6’9 350.

RE: UAB Holds First Day of Practice in Bartow Arena
From the files of Today in Blazer History - 2/5/2000 UAB vs. Cincinnati
Quote:On this date in 2000, Bob Huggins brought his #1 ranked Cincinnati Bearcats and Kenyon Martin to town. It was only the second time a #1 team had played UAB in Birmingham, the first being in 1980 when Depaul came to town. Kenyon Martin put on what may be the most dominating performance by an opponent in Bartow Arena history. UAB was 12-8, but was 9-0 at home. The Blazers hoped to recreate the magic that had allowed them four years earlier to defeat Cincinnati when the Bearcats had come to Birmingham, ranked #3 in the nation. A crowd of 9279, which was the largest crowd at the time in Bartow Arena history turned out to cheer the Blazers on.
That standing room only crowd at Bartow Arena got to see why Kenyon Martin was named Player of the Year that year. Martin set the stage early, one minute into the game as he rejected a Myron Ransom lay up by blocking it against the backboard and sending the ball all the way to midcourt. Martin got so high that he flipped as he came down hard and hit his head on the floor. He lay there for several minutes before getting up and walking to the bench rubbing his head. Unfortunately for the Blazers, he was out of the game for less than two minutes. He returned with 17:26 to go in the half, and scored a tying basket 29 seconds later. Later he would say “When someone thinks you’re hurt, they try to take advantage of you. I wanted them to know I wasn’t hurt.” The Blazers would have no doubt that he was uninjured as he scored a career high 31 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had 7 blocks.
On UAB’s first possession of the second half, Martin blocked a David Walker shot, making Kenyon Martin the all-time CUSA shot blocker, a record held until 2005, when Moussa Badiane of East Carolina broke his record. UAB battled hard against the much larger Bearcats, but could not find an answer to Martin, who was assisted by 25 points off the bench by Steve Logan. Cincinnati won the game 93-80. UAB was led by Eric Holmes who had 25 points. Torrey Ward added 13. A little over a month later, Kenyon Martin would break his leg in the CUSA Tournament and ruin the Bearcats chance at a national title.
God, I miss that version of CUSA

Would love for Alexander to commit, but that's the fifth big spot. I don't see nine guards but who knows. Would take a local walk on big for Alexander to replace Boyce.

Grades were never an issue for Iran (pronounced E-Ran). He had a 3.42 at Hargrave Military while playing for AW Hamilton, now EKU HC. The problem is he was at a prep school for a semester in NC that closed their doors. And no one AW Hamilton, Dan D'Antoni, Mike Hamrick or the AD compliance department could secure his transcripts from them.
I'll just leave this here, had Iran had Kentucky, UNC, Kansas or UCLA on the front of his jersey he would have been cleared before he ever got to campus.
