NM TD.

LU 49 NM 43.

If NM wins, it will be the biggest comeback in their history (by number of points) according to the announcers.

Whew! Big win. We weren’t supposed to win. I thought we could, and we stole a victory.

Great win on the road! Hopefully this spring boards us for the rest of the season. I LOVE how we started strong for a change. I HATED how we had to hang on for dear life in the second half. Apparently no lead is safe.

Congrats to Liberty on an impressive road-victory!

Q: where is the team staying between now and next Sat.? I assume they’re staying in New Mexico rather than making two round trips back to back.

From what I understood they are planning on making two trips.

The football team will take a charter flight for every away game this season except the one against UVA which is a 60 mile drive north. Team usually leaves late morning / early afternoon on Friday and returns following the game after the team has showered.

RE: New Mexico
Thanks for the replies about the travel plans. I admit I’m very surprised to hear that. Even with a chartered flight, being airborne for more than 7,000 miles (both trips combined) is a lot.

About 10 years ago, Boise State played a regular season game @Hawaii on November 23, then was assigned by WAC officials to play in the Hawaii Bowl in December 23 against a C-USA team. A lot of Bronco fans complained bitterly about the extreme travel-demands, and even though I’m not one of their supporters, I could see their point. FWIW, they did lose both of those games (that was Hawaii’s 12-0 year before they got stomped in the Sugar Bowl).

It’s very tough on a football team to travel a long distance two weeks in a row. I’m not sure about the altitude comparison (Lynchburg/New Mexico) but for a lot of eastern-based teams, that can make a difference, too.

Good luck to your program! Y’all are taking some huge strides here and it’s a pleasure to watch. Hopefully LU and Tulane will meet on the field one day.

The altitude in ABQ definitely played a role in our second half issues with cramps and exhaustion. Thankfully Las Cruces is a bit lower. Air travel is not that big of a deal particularly for college-aged guys.

Any excuse to play in NOLA is good by me. Next season we get to Lafayette but 'Nawlins would be awesome.

Certainly a 20-yr-old, scholarship football player is not going to be affected the same way as a 45-year-old couch potato. But really, it’s the process of doing it in back-to-back weeks that can take a toll, more than the travel itself.

Q: any of y’all know what kind of plane the team uses? They’re *Not* all the same!

Different companies have been used in the past, but the primary carrier this year is the Allegiant Airbus charter (A319 or A320).

RE: New Mexico
Granted I am not playing FBS-level football, but I have flown close to 50k miles in the past six weeks as an AARP-eligible dude on business ... none of the long hauls back & forth to South Pacific in business class. These relatively short hops between Virginia & New Mexico are not as big of a deal as some are suggesting. A319s/A320s may not have bells and whistles but they are reasonable from passenger comfort experience. They don't require much recovery time on these length flights.

Now back to playing at elevation, 3900 feet is still a factor for our guys. Hopefully their ABQ experience has them taking hydration and oxygen more seriously this week. Las Cruces is a cool little town along the Rio. I wish I could score some Hatch-infused grub this weekend. Alas it isn't going to work out.
