As UCF fans know, the media only believes the hype they have created around the P5. Everyone else has to work 10x harder to even get a look.

We as fans know there are plenty of "power" teams that don't deserve that label.

For App, we just have to keep getting better and see where we stand after the next two weeks.

RE: Polls and SBC teams
Obviously the polls are fluid and even those these teams are not ranked, the voting does not make sense. The 2-1 Utes, with wins over "powerhouses" Weber St. and NIU and a loss to conference foe Washington by 2 TD's, received love from 3 different voters giving them 9 ORV. On the flip side, Buffalo is 4-0 with wins over Del St.(MEAC), @Temple (AAC), EMU (MAC) and @Rutgers (B1G), come in with 6 ORV from 3 different voters. Granted the Owls and Knights aren't great teams but Buffalo's resume looks better than Utah's at this point in the season.

I am a voter in the /r/CFB Top 25 poll, which is gaining some recognition as being semi-official. This week, I had App State at #21! Overall they were #39. Here is this week's poll: https://poll.redditcfb.com/poll/125/

I don't know that I can really say with a lot of confidence that App State is one of the top 25 best teams in the country, but it's an absolute joke that Cincinnati is getting so many more votes than App State. Why? Because they beat an 0-4 UCLA team that lost to Fresno State 38-14?

Wins over bad Power 5 teams count for entirely too much.

We have to earn it. Wins over Gardner Webb, bottom dweller Charlotte, and South Alabama don't say top 25. We're getting as much about love as we should be right now. If we play against stAte and Troy the way we've been playing so far we will have earned it.

Not getting blasted by Boise St. would help.

I am sorry but is that last week or this week with Coastal with 3 and Troy with 1. Anyway the other polls if App wins out before the Troy game they will be ranked. If Troy wins out we will be on the cusp prior to the App game. HOWEVER.....a heck of a long way to go. I just don't care tooooooo much at this point. Let us just take care of business and things will eventually take care of themselves. If an SBC does well with only one loss they will finish around 18-22 in the polls depending on other happenings.

If App State wants to be in top 25, they have to earn it. They were very close in numerous P5 games the past few yrs. Although rather impressive, they still got a loss.

I’ll be happy if Southern can be where App is right now in the next 2-3 yrs. Program is clicking and looking for that signature P5 win since joining SBC.

Exactly. We have LSU and BYU on the docket in theoming years. Not sure who else. Not exactly crappy teams at this point in time. Can somebody schedule an emergency game with Nebraska? That'd be great, thanks.

That's arguably how the MAC has had so many more ranked teams than the SBC despite the fact that we beat that league like a drum.

This.

Beating the Wake Forests, Purdue's, and Kansas's as well as beating the G5 competition on the schedule.

There's no big science to it. The mapwork has been laid out by many other G5 teams in various conferences. You just gotta win. After Troy beat Marshall and Missouri in 2004 and started out 2-0, they had shot up to #29 in the AP Poll after starting the season with zero votes.

That and hold onto your coaching staff. Good luck with that if you pull off the above a year or two and go undefeated.
