Exclamation State of the League
• Three teams at 3-1
• Five teams have only one loss
• A record number of P5 / P6 scalps
• No FCS losses
• Only one team in the east has more than one loss (Georgia State)
• Only one team in the west has just one loss (Arkansas State)
• Conference Record in the east: 2-0
• Conference Record in the west: 1-3

Bowl chances for 5 to 7 are very high. Good year for the Belt so far.

And stAte's one loss is holding up well compared to the P5 teams playing Alabama and losing in more dramatic fashion than us. Folks, the Sunbelt is growing up.

RE: State of the League
It is no longer a debate especially after dropping Idaho and NMSU we are just as good overall with CUSA and MAC we need to completely put them in the rear view and start chipping away at the MW.

Everyone has different ceilings but unlike a lot of teams in the G5 almost all of our teams have ton more room to grow. You look at MAC teams and they are the exact same as they were two decades ago and will likely be the same two decades from now.

I think State and South have their coaches...just going to take some rebuilding.

Have a feeling Everett Withers is coaching his last season. His years at JMU really aren't that great when you consider the decided talent advantage they have over almost every team in the FCS wasteland. Texas State needs to hire KC Keeler and ignore the complaints from boosters who want to make another gimmicky "name" hire.

Billy Napier I'm still skeptical about, but he certainly seems to be recruiting well so far.

Alabama's schedule up through Week 4 has been a joke for the accolades they are receiving. Louisville almost lost to WKU and Ole Miss gave up 600+ yards and 40 points to Southern Illinois. Outside of Texas A&M, Arkansas State was likely the best team the Alabama played.

I think South is doing better than I was expecting. They hung in there with La Tech and Memphis. We have the right coach, working on getting funding for our upcoming OCS. Just need to continue to improve the team. Orth is playing good against tough competition especially for a guy with very limited playing time going into the season. We are leading the division. if we continue to play like we did last week, we should be in every game and surprise a team or two.

RE: State of the League
I am pleasantly surprised at the success App is having thus far. If you look closely at the personnel that we lost off of last years roster, I was really worried. However, qb play has not been as worrisome as first thought as Zac Thomas is completing at a 75 percent clip and our running game is deeper than last season. As always, before the seasons end, I still think that App's Defense will once again be our calling card.

I am not looking at micro more macro. If CCL does well he is gone just like 90%+ of really good G5 coaches. I am looking more of where are the programs at, facilities, budgets, recruiting, consistency in competing OOC. Most teams are trending up in these areas, some more than others of course. I think if we all stay in the Belt in ten years it will be a as solid a G5 as we are allowed to be. Hopefully not put in the same breath as an FCS game on someone's schedule.
