Buffalo is a large school in a fairly large metro area... On the plus side, UB is an AAU institution, but negatives are, that they lag behind Toledo and a couple of other MAC members in regards to facilities... Also, the fact that Buffalo has not been FBS all that long...

Then they'd fit in pretty well with the AAC East.

Ummmm . . .

Buffalo announced 13.4K per football game last year.

http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/football_r...e/2017.pdf

Their budget is only $35M, and 71% of that is subsidized.

http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/

What's more, they aren't attractive to TV. So stamp this on your brains:

Army, BYU and certain MWC schools such as Air Force, Boise, SDSU, etc. are the only viable options for expansion, and those odds are not good unless and until Aresco hits it out of the park on the next TV deal.

BYU is the only candidate I would consider. If they would come in any capacity, all sports, football only they are worth the travel headache. I think the more realistic option and only other real option is add a basketball only like Dayton to cross fit with football only's like Army. We already opened that box by getting Witchita and Navy and I think those are the next two best options.

Buffalo would be a slam dunk if the Bills left town. I doubt they are leaving. Until then because of the Bills: UB draws flies and has no following outside of the local vicinity.

Exactly. From an academic standpoint they are attractive. Other than academics---they add little. Your post on self generated revenue is a good guide to schools that would likely be considered should the AAC ever need a replacement. Army, BYU, and Air Force would be that the top of that list (they basically have a standing invitation).

All this nonsense about Buffalo, trivial conversations about ju-co's and D-2 hype jobs might as well discuss some high school teams with Uncle Rico like any of them are going to be a variable

Buffalo may have attendance reminiscent of high school crowds in West Texas but they are better than DaveySt’s D-2 school ads. The only juco
I’d add is Boise but that ship has sailed probably.

All of the excellence at Buffalo is thanks to UCF AD Danny White, who turned the place upside down while he was there.

RE: Buffalo to the AAC
Institutionally I like Buffalo and they've been decent for a few years in FB but they really are too far away from UConn to be a travel partner. They are about the same distance from Cincy as they are from UConn and Temple, a little over 6 hours driving. I also am not sold on their ability to build a following. Personally, I'm starting to really like the idea of Army. They actually are pretty close for UConn and have a national following and that program is much better than it has been in decades now.

UB's new fieldhouse is almost complete.

Why would the Bills move? They have one of the best fanbases in the league. The owner's wife is from western NY too.

is this for when ucf and houston go to the b12? otherwise not sure what adding a team like buffalo with zero fan support whatsoever brings to our conference.

I am not interested in adding members unless we lose teams.

If that were to happen, the list would need to start with Boise State, SDSU, and BYU.

Yes, I feel like we can add Boise State if their next tv deals falls apart and the MW pressure them to join the rest of them.

Conn to Buffalo is NY

Nobody wants UTSA or Buffalo. No offense.

If we had to take a c-usa or mwc team, it has to be ODU. They sellout every single football game although their stadium is barely bigger than a high school.

All these teams would he dilutive to our TV deal.

Add Army and Air Force, remove Tulsa and Tulane and we're good to go.
