If the BE had invited Penn State, they may have never disbanded. Penn State, north of Annapolis, won 2 national championships and had 5 undefeated seasons, all while playing in the middle of nowhere with parking in a cow pasture. I think most in the AAC would like that record.

Yes. Ok, Penn St to the AAC then!!!!

Do BC, VTech, and Miami stay? Do Cincinnati, Louisville, and USF still get added or just UC and UL?

Guess we'll never know.

I might add, does the ACC become a power conference at all? FSU wasn't added to the ACC until 1992, being independent prior to that, and didn't get real good until Bobby Bowden. Of course many of the rest came from the Big East in Miami, VT, and BC originally (as you already mentioned), than Syracuse, Pitt, and Louisville to follow.

Where does ND wind up in basketball and are they still associated with the Big East in football, if the Catholic 7 move on by themselves?

RE: Buffalo to the AAC
I would love an excuse to go to Buffalo every year. Fell in love with it at the World Junior Hockey Championship last year. I'd consider moving up there if it wasn't so cold.

They are on a great trajectory. They've been dumping more money into athletics I think and getting more donations. Interest is going up around buffalo, and it's a huge public with lots of resources. They just need to do something about their visual brand, it's terrible. And please dont try putting "New York" on the jerseys ever again. That was rough.

So many great public athletic departments up here that could form great rivalries and raise interest all around. Not enough room in the conference for all of them. Sigh.

Dear MAC:

Hi, it’s Temple. Remember the good times we had in the 2000’s? That was great. Anyway we’re in town and were wondering if you’d like to get together share some laughs. Nothing serious no commitments; unless you really want to?

Thanks,
Temple

Ah good point. Just looked at NIU's basketball records, they've only had like three winning seasons in the past 20 years. Toledo was pretty awful 10 years ago but their most recent coach at least has them competitive in the MAC. They've won 20+ three of their last five seasons. UMass looks like their kind of sputtering at the moment. So I'm leaning towards a Buffalo-Toledo add.

Toledo’s last five seasons have been an average of 21-10 ( far from horrendous). UMASS is right around 17-16 for the last five years...
And well, I think Toledo football in the AAC might be an upgrade over the Minuteman of UMASS...

4 all-time NCAA tourney appearances with your most recent in 1980?

Ya, that's horrendous.

UMass would be better for basketball. Toledo would be better for football. It is what it is.

Well, if you are looking to the future, Toledo football/basketball is trending up ... UMASS football/basketball not so much ...
I get it, that you would prefer UMASS for proximity reasons...
It is what it is !!

Please don't lump the basketball team in with the football team. Give our new coach at least a season of having an full roster before judging the trend of the program.

Just as a reminder: coach was fired after 16/17 and 7 players followed him out the door. To add to that, one of the players who was supposed to stabilize the roster at least somewhat last year ended up having a heart problem discovered just before the season started that ended up ending his basketball career permanently.

Hi Stookey. A few things:
  • The Big East doesn't host football
  • The American would work just fine geographically
  • Buffalo will not join The American, nor the Big East
  • Punctuation is not your friend
  • You're a Boston College fan
