I just wish he'd quit saying "Touchdown, Northern Illinois." Just say "NIU" instead.

Leave your sarcastic response below.

Bill is a treasure and I enjoy listening to him but you almost need the game cast alongside you when just listening on the radio.
Andy is very good on the sidelines. I remember Sid Simmons (sp?) but who did sidelines between Sid and Andy?

I've always enjoyed the broadcasts also and listened for awhile this week. Casey Kayler (sp) was the guy on the fie3ld between Sid and Andy. I think they are spotting for Bill and Mark from down there but I'm not sure.

RE: "To be honest with you", Bill Baker that was a lousy effort
Bill Baker is my favorite part of NIU football games and I listen on the radio more than watch TV, especially early in the season when the weather is nice. I choose this because I love the idea of an old school radio guy who loves NIU.

But sometimes I feel like Bill Baker thinks he's the TV color guy where the audience just saw the play and Bill just needs to add a little commentary. Bill, ya gotta describe the plays better.

He’s the Harry Carry of NIU Football. Doesn’t always make sense but you love him anyway.

Yes, Casey that was it. What is he up to? Did he move on to a bigger program?

I really don’t know what happened to him.

Ha! Here’s one I actually do know. My niece and Casey’s daughter are very good friends (they went to Northwestern together). Casey has moved to Oregon and is out of broadcasting and in IT security. I had a couple opportunities to be at events with him and he was always very friendly and we had some good NIU chats.

RE: "To be honest with you", Bill Baker that was a lousy effort
When we played at Iowa in 2013 & the temps were over 100+ degrees, we ended up driving home from Iowa rather than go in to the game. The heat was making us all feel sick so we decided to head for home. We were listening to Bill Baker on the radio all the way home & then when we got home as well. I will never forget the excitement of hearing Bill tell us that Jimmie Ward had intercepted which allowed us to win that game.

Yes, Bill Baker IS a treasure with a real passion & love for NIU. And I LIKE his signature wording of "Northern Illinois" over NIU. :-)
