No way Chapel Hell admits App had a better coach.

Well as a State fan, if Doreen left, Satterfield be the first name on my list. The man can flat out coach! If he wants in the ACC, the only job I seeing open this year may be GT. UVA, Louisville and UNC may be open next year. UNC would be the one program I don't want to see him go to. I am very happy with the hat! I would love him to get App to the G5 Access slot.

(I'm not quoting specific numbers but these are relatively close)

I've heard even at $7-8 million a year Nick Saban is making he's still vastly underpaid when compared to how much money having a top football program brings in to the university. I'd be curious to hear a similar analysis for Scott Satterfield.

Guarantee you the university has that information.

Saban gets a more in total compensation he got $11,132,000 last year. $2,600,000 more than the 2nd place Dabo. Of the 121 reported salaries 74 FBS coaches made less than $2.6M

I was at Clemson a few weeks ago and there's new construction everywhere. I heard Alabama substantially raised out of state tuition. All because of having top 5 teams. High tide raising all ships.

A lot of losing your coach has to do with timing and luck. Luck that the school that needs him cant afford to buy out the current coach and or if someone else pops up they did not expect. Here are the things that matter, does a potential school that makes any sense as a good fit want your coach? If yes can they buy out the current coach? If yes can they pay enough to overcome any reservations your coach has about going there if any or enough that is life altering money for their family and generations to come? If yes you are losing your coach. I am sure Fritz did not dream of being the Tulane head coach and if they were offering 1M instead of 1.2M+ he might not have went. Here is where you can add or cross off teams if you are worried about losing your coach.

http://www.coacheshotseat.com/ Potential schools that will be looking as of now list will probably be different at the end of the year.

http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/football/coach what they can pay and buy out of the current coach.

Buy outs are not set in stone and are usually settled at a lower rate as well IIRC in most of the bigger amounts lately so while a factor take the buyout data with a grain of salt.

Right you are JCGSU. A lot of stars have to align but when it comes down to money most P5s have it in the bank for exactly these situations.

Having a head coach who is an alum makes it a little easier to hold on to him but not much. If that were the case most schools would have alumni coaches. End of the day big money and career advancement usually win over allegiances. Besides, buyouts aren't for the coach, it's to compensate the school. I won't begrudge Scott when he leaves. He has already earned all our admiration.
