People were sincerely concerned about this. Not because he made a flip remark. Because of the seriousness surrounding the remark.”

The Times reporter also defended publishing the story despite the potential political fallout.

The answer is easy. They're watching the ****-fest taking place with Kavanaugh and realize that it doesn't matter if they have truth on their side, they only need to cause a commotion to distract the public. Since Bueller doesn't have the goods, and they know it, if they can get Trump to fire Rosy then they can cause a big-ass commotion there as well and detract from the truth.

The suspect in this is someone from the Andrew McCabe's camp leaked the memo to set Trump up for impeachment if he fired Rosenstein, Sessions and Mueller. So, people are saying do you even believe what McCabe said when Trump called him a liar?
