Quote:James Pinkney connected on 21 of 33 passes for 296 yards and four touchdowns during East Carolina's first situational scrimmage of the preseason on Bagwell Field at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium Tuesday afternoon. Four Pirates quarterbacks combined for 575 yards with seven touchdowns on 39-of-69 passing.
Not sure I'd want my offense that far ahead of my defense at this stage. Anytime my QB rips up my defense for 21-for-33 with 296 yards, that's kind of alarming, especially where the secondary is concerned...

However, those are good numbers for Pinkney... 05-hide

According to first hand reports, the majority of that was against the 2nd & 3rd string Defense. Also, it has been stated that the 1st string D pushed the 1st string O around, and they also shut down the running game. And we know that we have 2 quality running backs, so it sounds like the D is coming around for the year!

OK, I was wondering if Pinkney was facing the 2nd string or not. That sounds better.

If the first string defense had its way with the offense, that's a very good sign for '04. However, if injuries hit the first string defensive unit... trouble.
