Bolded, I agree. But there is some history with poor student turnouts at UC for noon kickoffs and there was discussion around UC years ago about trying to have Saturday home games at night whenever possible. Of course TV now dictates kickoff.

The historical reasons were what we might expect: large segment of commuters and students who worked a day job on the weekend and couldn't attend. The student population has changed considerably the past decade and the residential cohort is now large enough to overflow the student section. So we'll look for it to be full Saturday--maybe not for kickoff, but by 12:15 once they drift in and find a seat.

Do you mean just the students or also the non-students? 03-lmfao

Oh, good point. I bet we'd lead the nation in attendance "standing in the no standing zone" during the game.

That's because all the Merle's and Maude's gripe when you stand up for 3rd down or when something good happens. That's why my seats are in the last row of a section.

For those interested Saturday's crowd was in the top 10 attendance record for Nippert according to the Gobearcats.com website under facilities. Good job fan, team and coach for a less than ideal day.01-ncaabbs

RE: Attendance at FB game
The standing in the concourses was a HUGE issue yesterday at the end of the game.

The clog before the bridge to get from the east to west side of Nippert was by far the worst I have ever experienced. It took a 15-20 minutes wait to get to the bridge because of people standing around in front of Stadium View Cafe and on the bridge itself butting down on the number of people who could cross at one time.

And the UC police, security etc did absolutely nothing to help move the traffic through.

It was not even raining that hard. I understand going up into the concourse during halftime, but people just stayed up there the entire second half. Quite annoying.

They need to buy Ponchos (is that cultural appropriation?) for a couple bucks. We sat through entire Miami game and last night. Hell last night was at best a drizzle. Come prepared.

In both cases we could have went back into the club area but hell if you are going to do that you might as well stay home and watch TV.

Dick's, etc sell for 2 bucks and up or buy some large garbage bags and cut a head opening.

RE: Attendance at FB game
We sat through the entire game in our seats with ponchos on (and got pretty soaked anyway) until the last two minutes and then did attempt to see the last part from the bridge behind the Bearcat Lair. It was crowded but not impassable, and we missed seeing the tackle for loss on 2nd down. From my view an awful lot of people stood around the entire stadium. That is normal most every game. Obviously more people did it yesterday to get out of the rain.

I believed the forecast and didn't bring rain gear. I sat upstairs 207 for the entire game, including half-time. Long pants helped but no rain gear and was pretty wet walking out pants wise. It was a steady rain, but not a down pour. Probably would've abandoned the Bearcats if not for the quick 3rd qtr. touchdown. Golf rain gear would've negated any problems, won't make the mistake again trusting tri-state weather forecasts.

Stretching games out to 4 hours is not a good way to encourage attendance.

Telling me it was "only" 3 hours, 50 minutes won't improve things much.

Going to a TV time out right after a several minute Booth Review is a real bummer for those in the stands, especially when rain is drizzling.

We had ponchos. I bring them in my bag to every game.
And the Red Ball Cap V Commercial man on top of the replay reviews, ref consultation time and a few injuries really made the game drag.

Wish it was 5 hrs. Been having fun at these games this year. With how grueling my weeks are, I plan on an entire Saturday down in Clifton.

This is a problem with the sport in general. And it's driving young people away.

Is it more or are there more TV timeouts and longer ones to boot? It seems after every possession there is a 2:30 tv timeout. Ridiculous!

It took a lot of time to try finding a view to help OU by MAC incompetents or homers.

I don't care about the length of the game. If you're taking a product that is supposed to be a 3 hr product and extend it to almost 4 you're watering down the product. There is no flow to the game when it gets extended.

Yesterday's game was exciting because of the comeback it was competitive the whole time but if it was a 2 score game it would've been unwatchable.

One thing the NFL does great is the 1 o'clock games are all done by 4:10 normally barring OT. College need to go to NFL timing.

It’s been mentioned here before. Yesterday was more about MAC officials throwing a flag every other play and constantly reviewing everything.

After reading through these comments, there's no way we can be on top in the fan happiness index. Gotta be a mistake.
