No I know what Roo was trying to say but Gonzaga is dominating teams that each the top 25. NMSU is dominate but they and the WAC are closer to the Big Sky and their hierarchy. WeberSt/Montana very strong and then there are the rest....

The WAC is much better top to bottom than the Big Sky. NMSU has dominated the WAC because no other team has been consistently able to challenge them. Weber State/Montana are just not in their class. For NMSU to take the next step, they just need to win in the tournament.

UVU has been better the past two seasons than GCU, at least in the WAC standings. GCU is an underperforming basketball program with a higher ceiling than any other WAC school. Seattle and CBU both have a lot of upside. UTRGV is showing improvement. UMKC and Chicago State should be better. Dixie State will bring a good basketball program. The WAC has a lot of untapped potential in basketball, the conference just needs some stability.

Dixie State will be a solid addition I think. I have nothing to back that up other than the fact that they're the only show in town in one of the fastest growing cities in the country in St. George & is only a 2 hour drive or so from Las Vegas and 4 hours from Salt Lake & Southern California (practically). Also will draw fairly decent to the tournament in Las Vegas. Possible rivalry with UVU.

In the past, I questioned whether Las Vegas was the best place for the WAC tournament; playing in a more than half empty arena. However, with GCU gaining its tournament eligibility in recent years and the addition of Cal Baptist (less than 4 hours from Las Vegas) and now Dixie State (less than two hours away from Las Vegas) Las Vegas is the obvious choice for the WAC tournament.
