Evan Phillips made 1st career MLB start tonight
Phillips was pressed into action against the Blue Jays tonight, as Buck Showalter was running out of arms. Evan retired the first 5 hitters of the game until getting into trouble; he allowed 3 runs on 3 hits and finishing after just 2.0 innings of work. The Orioles lost their 107th game of the season 5-0.

This was Phillips' 9th appearance of the season, appearing for the Braves and Orioles. Previous to tonight, his last outing came on August 15th against the Mets.

Phillips is certainly best suited out of the bullpen given his mid-90s fastball, so hopefully there are better nights to come. But still cool he was given the ball for a start.

Phillips is just the 3rd Seahawk alum to start an MLB game. Carl Willis (2) and Jason Roach (2) started games for the Tigers and Mets, respectively. Willis was then moved to the bullpen for the remainder of his 9-year MLB career, whereas Roach never pitching in the bigs again.
