If we dont become competitive, I fear this series could get cancelled at some point. Thanks BW

Why would VT cancel based on our bad performance? If anything, if we beat them often then they will cancel it just like they did basketball. Turkeys.

Because scheduling is different in basketball. Also we are tying up a decade of games for them in which they could be scheduling someone that helps their SOS. Dont get me wrong I am happy we have them scheduled but I would not be surprised if we are 5 blowouts down the line and they cancel for someone else.
That being said, everyone likes a guaranteed win.

I look at it as a benefit to them too. They can cancel playing a 1AA team, and just look at us as their FCS game. If they do that, their strength of schedule will rise because they are playing a "FBS" team instead. Plus they don't have to pay us, because its a home and home series. And drivable no less.

RE: Game 4: VT @ ODU
In some ways Tech gets more benefit from playing us in Norfolk than they do in Blacksburg. They get up close exposure to 757 recruits and their players from the area get to play in front of family and friends who can't/won't make the 5 hour drive back and forth to Tech. The tidewater alumni also get a break from the travel across the state to see a game.
From talking to my VT friends and family (including my wife), the game against us is an afterthought. If we could somehow occasionally be competitive with them that may change but for now we aren't on their radar. Other than the people we bring, we certainly don't move the needle on ticket sales to the game in Lane Stadium from an alumni standpoint.

Coach Wilder said LA LA DAVIS is getting the start vs. VT. Coach also said there is going to be a mix up in the depth chart come Saturday and no one's spot is secured.

Opens at VT - 28.
Man, that feels like a real sucker bet. That would assume that we could play within a TD of them every week with that offensive genius they hired from Memphis as HC.

But but but, they all played with so much pride and heart, and right down to the last snap.
Band-aid on an amputation.

Jackson isn't even all that accurate, but his WRs have made some extraordinary catches this year. That WR group is going to be a problem for us. They are going to score a lot of points vs. us unless we something get pressure on Jackson.
On defense, they really stop the run and challenge the WRs to make plays downfield. That has been ummm.. a problem for us.

RE: Game 4: VT @ ODU
I am going to put on my 'homer' hat and say that ODU is going to go out, play loose, and give a worthy effort on Saturday. All I want to see is for them to step up, show some innovation in play calling, take some 'calculated' chances and have a good time. If they get 'psyched' out by a big turkey, then it will be a difficult day. Hell, nobody expects them to win, so what is there to lose, at the end of the day somebody will be 1 -0 on Saturday and somebody is going to be 0 -1. ODU needs to show that they belong on the field and not get embarrassed. Enough said. Show up and play the game, that's why it is played, because nobody knows what is going to happen in between the opening and closing whistles. GO MONARCH. STUFF THOSE TURKEYS.

No matter what the score is, I implore all of you who attend the game on Saturday to take a moment and just revel in what is happening on campus. Show up early, walk around campus and just take in all the life that a game like this brings to OUR school.

I doubt VT would run the score up past that 80 mark esp if we struggle to score more than two TD's. They will most likely throw in their third stringers and given them some playing time and keep their starters and backups healthy. Again not more than one embarrassment per season please and i think we have had that already with a piece of **** like Liberty whipping us and i hope nothing will ever top an 80-20 humiliation combined with that running clock from UNC game and if we do somehow manage to get humiliated worse than that i hope i am not around to hear about that.

No one's spot is secured...sounds like something you'd hear out of camp, not a 3rd of the way into the season

RE: Game 4: VT @ ODU
I am not too optimistic about this game but I still plan on being there this Saturday. I will never forget my freshman year sitting in the student section for Chowan talking to a buddy about how cool it would be to play VT at home, and now it is finally happening. While this may be an ugly beatdown, I will still take it all in and remember that we came from 0 expectations playing a bunch of D2 schools to hosting several ACC teams at home in 10 years.
That being said this could be worse than the UNC game... but I think Coach Fuente has a little more class than that.

Short memory for BlueMoon. The 5 win season will likely always be that for me.

I think that short memory is a blessing in disguise so we can get to the next game or season as if nothing happened . That Damn UNC game still haunts me. The worst thing about it, if i remember correctly is "One of the UNC DB's were praising Taylor and calling him Taylor Football and what not during the pre-game interview" and then they put that hurt on us . I was working in Buffalo back then and had UB grads as colleagues and that game always somehow crept into the conversation and ended up being "Why did your coach ask for a running clock" and me giving them some BS reason to make Bobby's actions look good.

I'll be there and be loud as hell cheering for our Monarchs. I'll stay loud until the end or until the spirit is broken out of me. I hope it's the first of the two . . . .
