What shows should be remade?
With MeTV now showing the old Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, I was wondering why there hasn't been a remake of this like Battlestar Galactia?

Some shows I wouldn't mind seeing remade for a series even though I loved the originals are:
Knight Rider. While the Hoss was great I don't think he is untouchable as Tom Selleck is in Magnum.
CHiPs....although we have enough police series out there. I did like the Hawaii Five-0 remake for the first 4 years.

What are some others?

They tried a Knight Rider remake, didn't go so well.

I still think they should refire Firefly, Space 1999, 6 Million Dollar Man,
and maybe the X-Files.

RE: What shows should be remade?
I loved Knight Rider back in the day....
--but its 2 attempts at rebooting the series haven't gone well IMO. They both missed "the thing" that the original had. And, IMO, another issues is the car itself. Pontiac is gone... no Trans Am/Firebird to put ack out on the streets. I do think an AI enabled car concept is there.

I HOPE the Magnum PI reboot goes well...
--But I think this series in general.... based on concepts from the original.... how do you modernize it? Post Vietnam buddies, Robin Masters.... real/fake?, Higgins' position?, Magnums buddies jobs...

I like your idea of CHiPs but the movie looked kind of fail so I don't know if they get another shot.
--I do think a mildly comedic but real cop show of the CHP would be a good idea to get into. And since diversity is the thing, the main partners would be right in line with the original casting set up.

**********

Charlie's Angels would be ripe for something but...
--The original had a certain charm and while it had its comments and its campiness... it had strong character personalities and women who were about getting the job done... not token characters. I think the working out of Bosley and Charlie are the two characters that would need the most work for a modern setting IMO.

************

So:

Drama related:

Miami Vice, LA Law, Hill Street Blues, Hunter

Comedy related:

Moonlighting, Benson ( I mean a comedy set inside a governor's mansion could be interesting in today's climate), Night Court? ( I mean, if you want crazy.... ), Facts of Life?, Alf ?

In that vein of Knight Rider:

Blue Thunder?(helicopter), Silverhawk(motorcycle), Stingray(car), Airwolf (helicpter / considering Stringfellow's background and that of his brother and the US Armed forces/intelligence agency base for the show....)

I would like to see Airwolf come back, and The Fall Guy would be nice to see as well.

I can't wait to see how Magnum P.I. plays out, and I am big fan of Hawaii 5.0

I don't know if you could ever remake shows like the Hillbillies, Jeffersons, All in the Family, etc.

Today's overly sensitive society would never stand for it, even if the show was well done and humorous.

I think the "FOX-ifying" of "family shows " would really hurt someone trying to remake The Andy Griffith Show. Also the family values and family friendly comedy from that show would get turned into something different for laughs and what not. Now, his Matlock show might have a shot at being remade.

Agree that shows like The Jeffersons ( color me a fan) and All in the Family ( never really cared for it) would be tough to pull off now in the same way trying to remake Blazing Saddles would be. Their natures don't offer the card that shows like South Park and the like have in order to play off that "offensive/controversial" material.
