U of M needs some academic improvement
The University of Memphis is way down in these academic rankings. I suppose this is what the Big 12 schools were talking about with their concerns of academic standing. They have to find a way to do better, somehow.

RE: U of M needs some academic improvement
You realize that we were Tier III in these rankings just two years ago, right? Improvements are being made, but nothing is immediate.
There have been several initiatives to increase graduation/retention over the past several years. Rudd's #1 goal is to become a Tier I/Carnegie research institution, so it's definitely being improved upon.

Academic rankings are all about perception.
BS mostly. It's a mediocre baseline.

The elite schools are elite for a reason, and it isn't just perception. Maybe within relative groupings the distinctions between 1 and 5 or 50 and 60 are negligible. But a top 10 or top 30 school stands out from the pack bc of donations, research funding, endowments, and academic facilities. UCLA recently surpassed Berkley, which, when I applied to colleges in the 90s would have been unheard of. So shifts and improvements can occur. We have the right leadership to improve. But we must improve, and not just never settle, but ache to identify breakthroughs that can change the course of the university and, most importantly, the community. Learn from what other schools are doing, like we seem to have done with the FedEx and distance learning degree programs. I dont know if they got it strictly frm Arizona State, but those are 2 reasons cited for ASU's prominence in innovation.
So we have good leadership. Donate, support academic improvements and especially research improvements as much as athletic ones. 2 or 3 companies have relocated to the university district. Those are as important as Dandridge or Wiseman to getting U of M where we want to go. We need innovation, licensing, research pulling in the same direction that bball and fball are, and that takes support. I am thrilled for the region that Carnegie is a serious goal for Rudd.
So millionaires who are U of M grads, need to be donating...

That is why I said over a million dollars a year, guys like you are hard to quantify since you are right around a million per year, might be $950,000 one year might be $1,100,000 the next.
Also I see some company's Form DEF 14a
