We couldn't score more than 10 on Liberty. I doubt we score any on Tech. Our defense is hopeless as it couldn't stop Charlotte. I hope I'm wrong through and it's at least competitive. I'm not going nor will I be watching. I'll be at the Airshow watching our teams of Armed Forces who always win.

I watched that Marshall NC State video for their upcoming game. How they took down #16 KState. If we somehow managed to come out and fire on all 4 cylinders and some small miracle happens and we win it'll be like the biggest upset ever.

Agreed. It will rival App St beating Michigan.

We have have had some "tough" lines.
The Cameron led 2010 and 2011 DLs, the Born Olines of 2011 and 2012, and the 2016 and 2017 Ximines led DL units come to mind.
Otherwise we have never been particularly physical but instead overwhelmingly a finesse team.

That is a problem when facing the better programs.
Appy/Michigan, and JMU/Tech easily come to mind, but there are many examples of G5 and FCS teams being competitive with P5 programs. Even GaSo held their own with Alabama in 2011.

Until we can play better in the trenches, and be more physical at db, we are going to finesse lesser teams, but we will not just lose, but get blown out by better programs.

We've only been competitive in two P5 games. Pitt and NC State. Both of those teams were substantially better than this one. I think VT being favored by only 28 is Vegas giving money away.

1) VT isnt as good as their ranking
2) 28.5 for a road team is very high. Dont see it for a road team between two FBS teams all that often.

But their HC is an offensive whiz. They were never this consistent offensively before he took over. Couple that with our trend of struggling offensively and it's hard for me to see this line as anything but easy money.

But the experienced handicapper in me says there is no such thing. Still I'd lay the points until ODU proves it has any offense whatsoever.

Right. Were they ranked last year when our offense didn't cross the 50. Not looking any better this time.

Got the line at -27.5. You have to take them when they are there.

I don't think they are the 13th best team in America as they are ranked. That is based on a win vs. Florida State, who looks terrible right now. This was supposed to be a bit of a rebuilding year from them as they lost a ton of defense. They could prove me wrong, but I would think they were closer to 25 than they are to top 10.

Whether or not they are going to smoke was not the point. I was pointing out why the line is 28. Im hoping it gets pushed up to around 30. May take the points.

Totally agree with that 757. That hook may be the difference.

The only reason I didn't bite is because I just HAVE to pull for the Monarchs. Too many other games out there to bet against us. One thing that's for certain though is I'm done betting on the Monarchs this year. Just hoping they turn it around. And I'm also good with that happening with coach they have.

I'm not too confident that home field advantage will be a factor on Saturday. Tech fans will be louder than ODU fans. The only impact the home field has is travel and they get to use our goofy away team locker room.

Trust me, I absolutely hate betting against ODU. I will be cheering for my money to disappear.

VT is always overrated. ODU may fair better than many think.
