RE: JMU @ WVU 2019
my dad is a WVU fan (and i am too, just don't follow as closely). he said they lose just about everyone next year. they're expecting a MAJOR rebuild, according to him.
that, combined with us having arguably our most talented team of all time (on paper) in 2019, and i can absolutely see us winning. also, some coaches are better at convincing their teams to not take an FCS team lightly. Holgorsen doesn't strike me as one of those. they've taken care of their FCS teams but they haven't played anyone close to our talent level as an FCS opponent. we've got a shot.

I think WVU and NC State are comparable. I would give the Mountaineers a touchdown advantage in a head-to-head game.
I think we are going to shock the couchburners much the same as we shocked the Wolfpack. Not saying we will win but I believe we will be competitive and the Mounties will know they were in a game.
Given the massive loss of talent in Morgantown between now and kickoff, I'm thinking this is a 50/50 game.

I would love to be there just to see the look of shock on their faces. We could win the national championship again this year and they would still think they'd beat us by 5+ TDs.
I would just fear for my safety, that's all.

St Francis and Morgan State will be laughable
You've got to be kidding me, we've got to endure this again next season?
He conveniently left out the UTC series. UTC is 3-0 right now.
Exactly, wonder why he left out the UTC --- did not fit the narrative. St Francis just took Richmond to the brink and the NEC winner gets a playoff bid, so could be a playoff team. I would drop all MEAC teams since the MEAC opts out of the playoffs.
The purpose of JMU's OOC scheduling is for success and home games in December. JMU plays plenty of ranked teams year in /year out in the CAA. Also these OOC games allow the coaching staff to work kinks out in game situations and evaluate talent in game situations.

One could argue that playing Furman, El Cid, Wofford, Laffeyett, and Lehigh accomplish all you state as our purpose. The thing you don't seem to care about is the reputation and desire of our coaches, players, and fans. We win against the teams I mention by 20 rather than 52 - 0 at the half. Your use of "working the kinks out" against NSU, RMU, and xyz (little to no scholly teams) is almost laughable. It's nearly impossible to keep the first team focused beyond the first quarter and those are the guys who we need to count on in December. 2016 we dam∆ near gave a game away to UNH because the first team was playing grabass over on the bench during the third quarter. I watched Trott chew some a$$ trying to get his defense to focus. This attitude happens when too many games are lopsided. As I've mentioned many times we have a minimum of three conference games every season where the outcome is determined after 15 minutes of competition. How much easier do you want?

My compliant is and maybe it is not your case.....folks complain no matter who we play OOC that is not a top 10 ranked team. Folks griped when we did play Lehigh, folks griped when we played UNCC who was transitioning to FBS. If JMU plays 1 FBS and 1 NEC/1 SOCON/1 Patriot type/1 OVC/1 Big South (pick 2 from FCS) I don't see the issue whatsoever. Have you ever thought that just maybe there are FCS schools that would rather not play us.....it takes 2 to schedule a game.

RE: JMU @ WVU 2019
I've never looked forward to a JMU FBS game more than this one (assuming we still have Houston of course). It's personal as WVU is an incredible gameday experience, or really I should say game weekend but this is one Dukes fans are not gonna want to miss.
On that note, the Marriott on the River just opened reservations for that weekend and will sell out quick. I'd encourage JMU fans to get on this now as quality options are "limited" (I kid because I love) up there. Planning to rent an RV and be there all weekend but have stayed in that Marriott for family reunions, funerals, games, etc. before and it's a good spot.

People who complained about Lehigh (because they were a little down that year) are idiots. That game is in the same general vicinity as UTC.

My biggest gripe is our use of the 12 game seasons. They are the perfect time to make use of home-and-home deals. JB told me getting the teams I mention, including UTChatty, is they will do deals but must be home-and-home. We simply do not pay the teams what they want for a payday game.
Makes sense to me, if they're going to record a loss, they need at least $300K. I think everyone can understand that.
We have 5 home games this season, I can get this if the away game were to have been against a SoCon or Patriot with a return home game next year. Looks like it gets back to the NSU deal causing a huge mess IMHO.
For what it's worth I had no issue with either the Lehigh or the Charlotte games other than one or the other deals should have changed the year the game was to be played in Harrisonburg. That five home game season did not have to happen.

I agree but that is where we are with the scheduling complaints........they tend to be irrational and want JMU to schedule 'heavy hitters' OOC when it is not needed. The schedule is composed to maximize JMU chances for high bids and post-season home games, period. If JMU did not schedule an FBS opponent yes they would need to schedule a high-end OOC game. We get that test and a check via the FBS game. After that we need to make sure we are 2-1 worst case going into CAA play.
Somehow I doubt those that clamor for highly ranked OOC games would be there when JMU had to play the weekend after Thanksgiving or be road warriors for the playoffs. The story would then shift to, we don't get any home playoff games, what is JMU doing.....damned if you do/damned if you don't

Totally agree. We need to get big FBS schools to come to us! ODU has VT at home and look how excited they are! Their tickets are literally catching on fire due to the excitement!!
It has paid off so much for them and we can only wish to be in the position that they are in right now.

Tickets are being sold left and right by ODU fans trying to make a quick buck off of VT faithful. It should be listed as a home game for VT.

No you don't. While JMU will throttle both teams, they are upgrades over this year's..
Morgan St > NSU.
Towson 36, Morgan St 10.
Albany 30, Morgan St 27.
StFU SIGNIFICANTLY > Robert Morris
Lehigh 21, StFU 19
StFU 45, DSU 14
And we all saw StFU snatch defeat from the jaws of victory vs RU.
The winner of the NEC will probably come down to Duquesne & StFU. RMU will probably finish dead last..
Don't just look at the name. Look at the quality of the opponent..
