You beat a team full of players that did not even consider Troy a realistic option in the choices most of the starters had in offers, dont be a SEC type fan and not enjoy a great victory. If you have not noticed the propensity of a Sun Belt team outside of ArkSt to to plummet to dumpster fire status with coaching changes is very high so enjoy the Neal train because you're heading to terminus fast with him.

I think Neal Brown is a great coach, but just as much of our success is because of Vic Koenning. I'm less worried about getting a head coach that can continue our culture of winning than I am about getting a DC that is as good as Koenning. He is likely the best G5 defensive coordinator, and I can only think of 2 or 3 in the P5 that could hold a candle to Vic. We compete with P5s because their QBs are thoroughly confused all game. Dabo Sweeny at Clemson was very worried about our "exotic blitz packages" before the game, and had lots of praise after the game.

He is gone as well if Neal goes just enjoy the ride and hope for another year. You are at the bottom qtr of the G5 for pay and you are in the middle of rural AL your coaching prospects are as limited as any G5 like most of the Belt. You were fortunate to have a long tenured coach and hit on the next hire. Just pray you dont get Summered and enjoy the ride because the probability of your next hire being as good as Neal or his staff is at best a coin flip probably not even that good. Culture sets standards and expectations it does not win games. AL's culture did not help Shula but it got him fired.

I hope he somehow stays too. The interesting thing is, he was interviewed 4 years ago upon getting hired at Troy, and he was quoted as saying he hoped to stay at Troy for a while because he and his family had been moving around everywhere for the past 10-15 years, and his wife was ready to settle down somewhere... he's worked at 5 different schools in the past 10 years.
His kids are now in high schools in Troy, and this has been Koenning's longest tenure at a school since he was DC at Clemson from 2005-2008.
If he stays, it will be amazing. Of course Neal Brown may want to take him, but you never know.

I would think VC would be given a shot at HC assuming Neal doesn't throw truckloads of money at him to leave.
