Not to take anything away but you really have to question what the hell Terry Bowden was thinking on that last offensive play for Akron. 4th & 26 with about 8 seconds left in the game and he tells his QB to throw it up as high as possible, only to end up leaving enough time on the clock for NW to try and score in good field position. Almost blew that one.

Yeah. No idea what they were thinking there.

My only hunch is that he was expecting/hoping the QB to scamper around the backfield a little more before heaving it. But even so, he probably just underestimated how truly long 7 seconds is in real time. It’s a fine play call if it was like 4 seconds.
