What we learned
NIU isn't the worst team in the MAC (that may be reserved for CMU) and Rod Carey is unequivocally done after this season.

Now let's go make Florida State defense look good.

If Frazier is fired I agree. If Frazier stays , Carey stays

Why do you think so? I want Carey gone, but I am not seeing how this game seals his fate.

RE: What we learned
This was supposed to be the game where our offense got back on track because we were playing a bad MAC team. We had a grand total of 284 yards of offense.

Carey has this program trending down. We will be lucky to win 3-4 games in the MAC this season.

Hopefully his 5 years hasn't completed fuc,ked the program. How does a d3 o line coach become coach of a great stepping stone program?!

The same reason he wont be fired. Compher wanted a clean uncomplicated break from the program for his ECU job. It was a move of convenience. Frazier wont let Carey go so he does not have to be encumbered by a job search so he can run away at first chance. Letting go of a coach also is an acknowledgment of a problem which makes his resume less sexy. I think what Frazier may be realizing now, you cant abandon your duties because the program is trending down under his watch. His window of escape is closing fast

Lucky Lazzaro wan't in the whole game. He would have scored on both of NIU's bad miscues.

The good news we got 24 point. Against CMU, I know, but it's a start.

We'll lose to EMU. ANd the Turds.

Thats why I think it has backfired on him, his window is closing fast or has closed. In his mind, Dekalb was in his rear view mirror a long time ago. I do not think he thought he would still be here.

I always find it very telling that he is not seriously considered for another coaching job. I figure the ones looking for a new HC know how to evaluate prospects and he is not even seriously considered.

RE: What we learned
We are not even better than CMU if they play Lazzaro the whole game. In his first game he is already better than Childers.

In a little more then a quarter he had more passing yards and about twice as many rushing yards than Childers, so more like in his first one quarter of a game he was better than Childers.

That amazingly good CMU coach did not play the far better QB until almost the 4th quarter.

I never said he was good. I said he was not quite as stupid as Carey. Mostly because he was bright enough to try something else when his QB was ineffective

RE: What we learned
The MAC is bad.

Childers can’t throw a good ball. Almost over threw DJ brown on that big play in the 2nd.

Our special teams is good.

Sutton smith is one of the most exciting/fun players to watch. Just doesnt stop playing ever.

RE: What we learned
We learned that CMU's backup QB is better than our starter and will probably be someone to reckon with the next couple years.
