USM QB reinstated
Projected beginning of the season starter Kwadra Griggs has now been reinstated to the team. Now is when starter Abraham starts looking over his shoulder

https://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/stor...303558002/

Griggs was suspended indefinitely by Southern Miss on Aug. 11 pending the resolution of a "student conduct matter." Since that day, the senior quarterback has not practiced with the team or been involved in any team activities.

Griggs started seven games for Southern Miss in 2017, throwing 16 touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 55.8 percent of his passes. Various injuries kept Griggs off the field for the middle of 2017 and forced him to miss spring practice in 2018, meaning his one week of fall practice before his suspension is the only week of live football action in which he's participated in almost a year.

Adams has thrown MUCH better than Griggs ever did, but Griggs is more mobile and a solid starter. At the very worst it should allow us to leave the shirt on Whatley.

agreed and agreed. Jack is much better at passing but Griggs is better at the play action/option read plays. The first game, granted it was JSU, there were multiple times where I felt had Jack kept the ball on the reads that he could've easily gotten 10-15 yards around the end but he handed it off every time....then again, that might have been the called play the whole time. If nothing else it definitely gives Rice more wrinkles to work on in the scouting report with our CUSA play opening next weekend against them.

Is this a game-changer for USM? Or will the offensive production look mostly the same?

Nothing is going to change Abraham is a much better passer and now Griggs will be a solid backup.

I'd say he's got a crapload of work to do before he'll be a solid backup.

Something is going to change: Abraham is a better passer, BUT UNTESTED....and returning starter Griggs, who threw only 2 INT's last year, probably will PUSH HIM FOR THE STARTING JOB IMMEDIATELY.

Fixed 04-cheers

Until USM gets better play from the oline and can produce some semblance of a running game, it won't matter who the qb is.

RE: USM QB reinstated
Griggs coming back is our only hope of even moderate success this year, with the poor play of our offensive line. Jack throws the ball up even more than some claimed Griggs did last year. Jack also threw as many ints in ONE GAME than Griggs did ALL YEAR. Yall can take 5'10 Jack and 3 wins, and ill take 6'3 Griggs and an outside shot at a winning season. You can also keep Jack's fumblitis. He may be a good, competent QB one day, but it isnt any day soon from what ive seen so far.
