Considering that there are plenty of other observatories observing sun spots, I would say the site's proximity to military testing sites means that the military is about to test that could be detected by the observatory... just my guess. Closing a nearby post office is very peculiar though. Perhaps the FBI needed a larger, federally-owned base of operations during their occupation of the observatory?
