Tired of the slow season starts.

I listened to Shawn Elliott 92.9 this morning..

7 true freshmen played on defense...they clearly looked like lost puppies versus hungry wolves

After the game the freshmen asked, "when does the game slow down coach...?"
Elliott responded, "dont worry, everything will slow down. Could be 1 game, 3 games, or 5 games. There will be a moment everything just click into place."

Sounds like Elliott know what he is doing just from experience and he isnt blaming the young kids for their mistakes. Panthers fans including myself ought be more patient with the process...no matter how frustrating it may be. The players themselves must be more frustrated than anyone. They have been winners in their whole lives but college football is just a beast on another level. They will catch up to the speed of the game eventually. Tons of freshmen getting experience is a good thing in the long run..They are talented 3 star recruits who just need time to adjust.

For a coach youth is not an excuse, at the end of the day either you are winning or losing. I am sure Tyson had a ton of reasons as well. W's and L's is what got Tyson got the reasons why legit or not do not matter when you are tanking or not progressing.

I think the trend line is still pointing up for Elliot for now but you should not be getting curbed stomped by Memphis either. Losing yes but not like that.

RE: Georgia State @ Memphis
Playing NC State and Memphis back-to-back was a major contributor to the lopsidedness of the Memphis game, especially with a day less to recover physically and prepare. What the winning coach is seeking to accomplish also plays a role in final margins. Using first stringers as late as Memphis did is certainly a prerogative of the coach, but comparing final margins when first stringers exit early versus first stringers playing into the fourth quarter is sometimes misleading. If Nick Saban had used starters as late against Ole Miss as Memphis did against Georgia State, that score might have topped 90.
