Some thoughts on the game.

First time since the USM game almost two years ago that Charlotte had a game plan, executed it, and stuck to it when things weren’t going well.

Only real stupid negatives I saw out of Charlotte that I feel we’re coaching and discipline issues were Quattlebaum’s muffed punt, Kota getting a personal foul after drawing a personal foul (just stupid), and Charlotte having three different player almost getting hit by a punt in the fourth quarter. I usually have a list of about ten ways Charlotte shoots themselves in the foot. It didn’t happen today and that’s a big part of it.

Depth is going to be an issue with Charlotte they have by my count six competent olinemen. One is suspended for four games. One got hurt mid second quarter and you could tell.
Same thing happened on the dline. This is going to be an issue all season and better team would have exposed it more.

The hidden play of the game was made by Charlotte’s punter. On the second punt of the game, the long snapper left it five feet short. The punter picked it like a shortstop and got the punt off.

At the end of the day, Charlotte was the better team in this game and earned this win.

As for Old Dominion, I hope the team and any traveling fans get home safely.
