There is not a better QB in the SBC
It was a good troll too. Of course we all really know Hansen is the man.

After out playing Heisman contender Trace McSorley in App's near upset of top 10 Penn State for his college debut as the starting QB, Thomas followed up his performance with 14 of 14 passing for 295 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also added 29 yards rushing and another touchdown. This was mostly done in three quarters against Charlotte.
You have my vote. In addition to his physical skills and talent which is very good, I like his mental toughness and the fire he provides to the team. Something State's too cool QB can't do. See where some is saying Hansen will be in the NFL. I would love to see our second QB start this Saturday.
Hansen will be in the NFL if for no other reason than he began his career at Oklahoma. He will probably be practice squad fodder if he shows some potential, otherwise he will be a 4th QB for preseason games.
Thomas likely won't get a shot in the NFL because he is slight of frame and doesn't have a big time arm. He's precise in his throws and decisive when he sees an opening but at this point there isn't anything I've seen that has shown he could be a successful NFL QB. App fans probably won't like me saying this considering he's only played two games, but the truth hurts some times.

Thomas doesn’t have a big arm? Are you kidding me? The coaching staff raves about how far he can throw the ball and they love that he can make every throw. As far as who is the best qb right now, it pains me to say this but Hansen is best, love the strength of his arm, and he has one of the quickest releases in collage football, maybe my option changes at the end of the yr, but today Hansen is top dog.

Thank you! He's played two games. So far, he has been near perfect. But, you shouldn't make a statement like that with such a small sample size. No reason to get ahead of ourselves.
That said, I think all App fans are more than pleased with how he has performed to date and are hoping these are the kind of performances he will provide on a consistent basis. He is just a sophomore and he will likely have some games where he struggles.

stAte's backup QB has an extremely quick release. Thomas looks great, but not sure his release is quicker than Logan Bonner's . . .

Haha that would have been better. Funny that I tried to get the two fan bases to argue but they're mostly saying that the other team's qb is better.

Thomas doesn't have a "Big Time" arm; i'm referring to an NFL type arm. Thomas is a talent but his frame and relative lack of arm strength, from an NFL perspective, aren't exactly going to have teams salivating. Armanti had an arm and was extremely accurate in college as well.

Based on what i've seen I don't believe that Hansen is the better quarterback though. He is bigger and likely has a bigger arm but Thomas has been lights out, thus far. It has helped that receivers have been hanging on to the ball, unlike years past.

Can't reiterate enough how excited I am to be coming to Jonesboro for that mid week October clash. The QB dual will be one of many headlines for that game. Can't wait!

I will say, though, that Scott Satterfield might just be making the case for being one of the elite QB coaches in the country.
Here's who he has coached so far:
1. Richie Williams (won a national championship, holds a record for something nuts like 40 completions in a row, won plenty of accolades in FCS).
2. Armanti Edwards (Won 2 national championships, beat Michigan, one of the best players in the FCS ever)
3. Ty Hilton (Might be the best Sun Belt QBs ever)
4. Taylor Lamb and Zac Thomas (who we're all familiar with).
BTW, Shai Werts has the highest passer rating among all the starting QBs and leads the Sun Belt in rushing yards...keep an eye out for him.
You definitely won’t have any argument from us about our QB coach being better.
TY Hilton? The WR/Returner from FIU. Yes, he is the greatest returner/WR the SunBelt has probably ever seen, but QB? I think he threw a TD against us one time in a truck play.
To be fair, as much as he owned us, he probably could have played QB and won easy.

One overlooked part of App thus far has been the receivers; this is likely the best receiving corp App has ever fielded. I know some will argue some FCS groups were good (Tony Washington and Andrew Peacock come to mind) but Sutton, Hennigan, Heath, and Williams will all likely end up, at the very least, in the NFL on a try out basis.
If they override my blind anger toward Brian Quick and CoCo Hillary it'll be impressive.
Those two caused massive headaches for me while I was in college.

Lack of arm strength? Did you not see that his nickname is "Bamm-Bamm" because he threw the ball so hard???? There have been several article talking about how the coaches had to work with him to put touch on the ball instead of throwing fastballs all day.

We've got a pretty good team this year. You should watch them play some time.
