And PaulJ, what's ur deal man? Total attendance is up! Compare CMU after Thanksgiving to Tulsa if you want but we are up after 3 games over 2017. If you win they will come. Crowds have been nice. Buffalo and BG should be terrific as well!
Starting to look like a chance of a 7-0 Buffalo team coming in. On a Saturday, they would bring a nice chunk of fans
Just pushing back against a narrative some advocate here that GB should be expanded and more seats added. As others have noted its been pretty clear for last decade and with a consistently winning team that local fans are muted in their support. And we all know the only reason total attendance is up is because of the 3,000-5,000 U Miami fans who attended that game, none to be seen again this season. Looks nice but one very special game a decade is not indication of jump in local fan support for UT football, it is what it is. If UB remains undefeated and UT wins its initial MAC games, that game should bring in a decent crowd (weather depending) but willing to guess we fall short of 25,000 again.
Supply and Demand. If Miami fans were locked out of coming, tickets would have been 20$, not 70$ and we sell out with just Toledo fans. If you don't truly believe that, then we disagree and should end the conversation. I'm not an advocate for expanding but I still think we have had a good season in the stands and that our athletic Dept has cashed in nicely.
Locked out? There were thousands of Miami fans at that game, not from Florida but certainly from across the midwest, and why did toledo fans not still come and make game a sell out? I believe at least as of game day there were still tickets available? You are speculating that local fans were frozen out from buying tickets for a game where 1,000s of Miami fans attended?? I think you are overestimating the casual CFB fan in Toledo and their support of the Rockets.

RE: Ticket sales?
How did the UT ticket office lock out regional and local U Miami fans? Clearly they did not as thousands were there. They were college football fans of U Miami, not of UT, and were there only because of Miami, and yes the ticket price was set exactly because of demand from that market-local and regional U Miami fans.

70$ IS A SH!T TON FOR A TICKET. I WOULD NOT HAVE ATTENDED AT THAT PRICE BUT I HAVE SEASON TICKETS!!!
IF HYPOTHETICALLY WE DID NOT LET THE MIAMI FANS IN...SAY IT WAS 3,000... WE WOULD NOT HAVE CHARGED 70$ A TICKET TO OUR OWN FANS. IF ONLY 5,000 TOLEDO FANS BOUGHT TICKETS AT THAT 70$ PRICE POINT. WE WOULD HAVE SOLD THEM AT A CHEAPER PRICE TO GET THAT NUNBER OF FANS TO RISE TO 10,000 OR HOWEVER MANY TO SELL OUT THR GLASS BOWL.
THAT PRICE POINT WAS FOR MIAMI FANS BECAUSE OF THE NAME. IF WE HAD FEARED THAT THE CROWD WOULD SUCK, WE WOULD CHARGE LESS TO FILL THE GLASS BOWL AGAINST A HIGH MARQUEE OPPONENT.

I get it.
You also should capitalize that the Miami game was indeed a sell-out lol.
Glass Bowl doesn't need expanded but it does need a renovation.

Probably talking average price. Sideline seats were like $90 a pop.

Was it a sellout, were there unsold tickets remaining on game day? A full student section goes a long way to getting 28,000+ in the GB. But I agree the price point may have still impacted ticket sales, but the student turnout was strong and pushed attendance up.

I agree, the concourses on the west side need major upgrades to handle beer and food sales. What about "bump outs" in the NW corner beyond current fences or into north lot? Add a large concession area, even if only under tents or awnings in a picnic style/food court area?

They could even open up that area at both north end block towers outside where the restrooms were into concession/ beer sales area...

I agree with that. Also maybe an kids zone and interactive area that includes some virtual reality/gaming options.

How about a zip line that extends from the top of Parks Tower to a Party Deck on the North end of the GB?

And for 20 bucks you get to fire a nerf ball at the guy on the zip line with the cannon on top of the NE block house.
