ESPN and CAA/JMU football
Once the current "TV package" contract expires, if the CAA and/or JMU doesn't jump on the ESPN3/+ option, then drastic changes must be made. Watching and listening to the joke of a "broadcast" last night was actually embarrassing as an outlet for JMU football, even though it was NSU's "production." If the MEAC and a facility such as NSU can get ESPN to air their product, then why in the world can't the CAA and/or JMU do the same???
It's been said that JMU had no business going to NSU for the return game from last year for a number of reasons. One additional consideration SHOULD be that any game meet certain minimum standards/capabilities for potential TV broadcast. IMO, this would apply to any conference or OOC game.
Someone needs to step up to the plate and demand that ALL games played by a CAA team be in such a facility. I'm not talking ACC or SEC network, but just some basic minimum standards. I felt like I was watching a high school game on someone's cell phone last night.

The NSU production was pretty bad but it was still better than the video production at Rhode Island last year. That was the worst.

Haha very true. My away game attendance policy has recently skewed toward “will the broadcast production be decent”? Luckily, I attended URI & NSU, so meh.

That's my point. If the commissioner, presidents and AD's want to make the claim of being the "SEC of the FCS" ... then resources must be allocated to make sure the "brand" is being perceived at a certain (minimum) level. NSU and URI are examples of what is NOT acceptable.

Will have to come from the CAA Presidents. Look at what our “commissioner” has done regarding broadcast rights thus far. Unless it benefits his old friends, he probably won’t lead that charge.

All CAA games should be on ESPN3. Period. Full-stop. Make it happen Mr. CAA Commissioner and Uni Presidents!

The JMU admin was very much part of hiring the CAA commissioner.

The person to tell all schools to shut up and create your own streams to put on ESPN+ would be Joey D. He needs to grow a pair.
He told us that certain schools aren’t willing to invest in minimum standards of production. If some of these MEAC and SoCon games and their crap product can get put on there, even URI’s terrible feed can.
Stop making excuses and get it done.

I don’t know. URI had more than one camera I believe, both not up to par. My wife made this comment, “this looks like a high school game being recorded by a parent.” And she is a little more than a casual fan who goes to games but does not get into any details about the program.

I said the same thing, it looked like a high school production. Fortunately I don't think we will have that problem again from here going out.

RE: ESPN and CAA/JMU football
I wouldn't know how good or bad NSU's production was because ESPN never let me in to watch the feed in the first place. If I remember correctly, our game vs ECU last year was awful to watch on ESPN as well. (Most of us never even saw the ending.) I don't think you can argue the ECU's production wouldn't be prepared for the viewing numbers, so I think the problem lies with ESPN and them trying to stream too many live programs at once.
So to say that putting our games on ESPN will solve all our viewing problems is not quite accurate...

NSU's "production" consisted of two cameras, both near the 50 yard line, no replays. I expected the commentators to be pro-NSU, but they were just bad and hard to listen to.
My internet connection allowed the ESPN without a hiccup. The issue wasn't the lack of bandwidth, etc. The issue was the low-angle and just overall way below par. Had nothing to do with ESPN.

One commentator: “they can do that to Norfolk State once, but they ain’t getting away with doing it twice”...
