I would tend to agree. This seems to be a low point for CUSA. FAU, Marshall, and NT are the decent teams. Everyone else is a big question mark at best.

You guys almost certainly underestimate Sun Belt programs because of an incorrect perception. Statistical analysis bore out, in preseason and post season 2017, that C-USA was the worst conference in FBS. The Sun Belt has been third or second behind MWC and AAC.

As things stand now, it looks like ULM is back on track as they finally got a defensive performance to lift the team instead of the offense. Coastal's defensive front is stacking up and their run game wore UAB down.

Charlotte needs to fire their staff. They have talent but the coaches seem to be clueless.

To all the folks who said Houston, Cinci, USF, UCF, SMU, Toolame etc weren't any better than the current C-USA, I ask you this: Where would you rather be RIGHT now?

I didn't put them there because they were better than anyone...I put them there because of PERCEPTION. IF you were in the AAC, you'd be in there with Smoo and Toolame, and I guarantee you'd gladly accept it in a New Yawk second!

At least we beat the spread and made a game of it (possession & within one score late in 4th quarter)

I think you meant to word that AAC then MWC, and not the other way around. Boise and Wyoming are decent. Everyone else is pretty mediocre there. Whereas, the AAC has Houston, Cincy, UCF, USF, and Memphis, as pretty good teams. Not to mention others aren't too bad, such as Tulsa. The AAC had a couple of FCS losses last week, but that didn't phase them from still having fairly impressive OOC wins this week. Mountain West will never be equal to AAC, because of its dependence on one program, to gain national eyes.

That's great that you think the AAC is a stepping stone. However, it is one, FAU will probably never get to. So have fun on that cloud, where you currently reside. But if you think FAU is even a possibility for AAC membership, then no one can help you.
Marshall, North Texas, Southern Miss, ODU and WKU would all be considered before FAU was even mentioned. The only way FAU is even considered is if either UCF or USF were to leave. Which I don't see happening anytime soon. I would prefer FAU to FIU if it came down to it though. Not trying to be mean, but that's the truth. So to call it a STEPPING STONE, shows how little you know.

OK! Here is a fun stat question. Which CUSA team's QB has been sacked 10 times in the first two games of the season and whose offensive line gave up those sacks to (1) the worst team in the SEC and (2) an FCS mid level OVC squad? Yes Sir! It's the Middle Tennessee "I got the Blues" Raiders. Geez! If we are the 6th or 7th best team in CUSA; then CUSA really has hit the Bottom of the peverbial Barrel.

I walked out of Floyd Stadium last night thinking MT is a 4-8 team if I ever saw one, then I seen some of the disastrous results from our conference brethren. Wow. It's crap like this that keeps Rick Stockstill winning just enough to satisfy our administration, if no one else in Murfreesboro. Another mediocre 6-6 or 7-5 season and a bowl appearance for the Raiders appears to be our destiny and it's going to be more due to the bad teams we face in conference than any level of talent or coaching competence from the Blue Raiders.

Looking at Stockstill coaching record...if FAU just won 50% of MTSU..Stockstill would not be your coach. Basically winning 10 straight vs. FAU has kept his coaching record above .500. Sorry

As of right now, Marshall is the only team from C-USA 2.0 with a winning record. The only new "market" programs with losing records are Charlotte, UTSA, and ODU. And, UTSA has played P5 competition in both games.

Our problems are not with the "Market" programs. Old guard programs USM and UAB lost badly yesterday.

I still like the line up in C-USA West. We need to stay positive and support Rice and UTEP while they rebuild. Hopefully whatever happened to USM and UAB yesterday isn't an indicator of future performance.

North Texas and LA Tech are still looking strong. UTSA could be decent too. I think they have a fair shot at K State this week.
