RE: By the numbers: Coastal Carolina edition
Watched the game Saturday and was taken back a little about amount of bad weight and slowness UAB had.Not trying to be critical but even down 2 TD's I thought Coastal Carolina had a chance.
If you guys didn't see it then just disregard but it was stark imo.

Our team speed is not good. Not sure if we are over-trained or just not that athletic to begin with. I did hear some of the young guys are much better athletes.

I was there and I can tell you that we lost for several glaring reasons: 1. defensive backfield ( LB,CB,Safeties) looked disorganized more times that I could count, 2. Defense is not quick, 3. looked like the WB days with the QB begging for the play to be called from the sideline, 4. Penalties for late hits, hits out of bounds, and other bad behavior reflective of lack of discipline on the part of the players, 5. QB was out of sync with the receivers and threw several bad passes. We must get the coachable things fixed quickly and hope that the physical shortcomings can be overcome somehow. Dang, I hate those long drives home after a disgraceful performance by our guys.

The play calls coming in slow *has* to be fixed. I don't like the new rule, but everyone is playing under it. Timeouts are too precious to burn because the clock is running down.
What I saw from the defense Saturday made me wonder if John Neal was still active.
We effectively spotted them a RB with 150 yards on penalties.
