Does NIU have a QB coach, If so who is the incumbent
We were all hoping to see Marcus Childers develop and improve for the current season. We did not see that in the Iowa game but perhaps we will see it going foward.
Who on the current staff works with the QBs? Are they up to the task?
It is easy to find fault with the players but they are out there doing their best. Sometimes I wonder if we have a staff that is capable of helping them develop. This is particularly true for our offense.

Its not just Childers, you wouldn't find any QB in the nation developing in this offense right now.

It is not just Childers, but stop with this nonsense. Put Harnish or Lynch in their Jr or Sr year on this team and that would be great and the O would put up the numbers. You want a current QB; give me the QB from Kent St (the Auburn transfer) and our O would be very good.

Aren’t the majority of our WR underclassmen? That’s got to count for something too right?

OK, I just checked NIU's website and I can somewhat answer my own question. Craig Harmon is our QB coach. I question his competence. I dont much care for our offense coordinator either. Carey hired them both and I gave up on him last season.

I've said a few times Harmon hasn't done anything since he's gotten here. That was the position that needs a new face before Carey. No QB has really progressed under him. You use to hear harnish and lynch praise the QB coaches when they were here with poore, zibrikowski spell check and Cole. Nothing with Harmon and the proof has been on the field.

I’ve said this for the last 4 years. I couldn’t understand how with all the experience that Graham had that he wasn’t getting better year to year. Not a single Quarterback has grown to be better under his watch. We can’t blame it all on injuries. Year 2 should be the biggest growth spurt for any starting QB. Drew Hare was our last decent QB. For a while I’ve wanted them to bring in Chandler to help with the QB’s. He was on Kill’s staff of a short stint mentoring QB’s at Minnesota.

RE: Does NIU have a QB coach, If so who is the incumbent
No doubt as the head coach Rod Carey should bear the brunt of the responsibility for what the coaches under him do/don't do, and Uremovich (OC) and Harmon (QBs) clearly haven't had much success. Interestingly though, it was also Carey who promoted Cole to OC (before Lynch's magical 2013 season); Cole stuck around as OC/QB coach through the 2015 season. Cole had a great, but short, run as OC for the Huskies. Gotta give Carey credit for that move. Also during Cole's tenure, we did see noticeable improvement in Drew Hare's long ball from 2014 to 2015. That was a regular topic of conversation on this board. Hare also had some great receivers to throw to. If I'm not mistaken, though, even Cole was regularly bashed on this board for uncreative play calling and offensive schemes. Anyway, the bottom line is I couldn't agree more with HuskiePride: They need to take a hard look at the OC/QB coaches after this season if Childers doesn't show dramatic improvement by the end of the year. With all of the budget woes, cost of head coaching contracts, and other stuff impacting the program, good hires in those positions might be the easiest fix.

What is the infatuation with all these coaches from USF? At first I thought the coaching bios were referring to South Florida but they were referring to U of St. Francis.

Enough with saying childers will/if develop! He sucks. You can't develop a pile of s*hit. Yes we need o staff but we need new head coach so the staff will work itself out. Just keep or promote Melvin rice for his recruiting ability but the rest can go. Just play Thompson, hall or that true freshman. Cant be worse.
