He did a great job coaching Minny after Kill's situation. Not so much with the off the field thing. It cost him.

Football aside, if there is anyone in the nation who is a less dynamic personality than Carey, it might be Claeys

We need a young coach, who will bring energy and enthusiasm -- like Fleck.

That's why I wouldn't mind rolling the dice with JL. He has to start somewhere and if it's not here and he has success we'll never get a shot, like Fleck. We can only be the first stop. We'll never be the second or third stop.

He wins a few more this season, there is no doubt they would keep him there. First win of the year knocking off a ranked opp in Texas is rare.

Might be best to grab a successful HC of an FCS school. I don't follow them closely enough to know who those potentials would be.

Oh, really.......so I am not a fan. Well, I have been a chairback season ticket holder for over 40 years. Does that qualify for your fandom?

Being a great, well- liked player has ZERO to do with being a quailified HC.

Didn't realize that those chairback seats had been in place for over 40 years. Have they. When did they go in?

Season ticket holder for over 40 years and chairbacks from whatever the first year. No, they don’t go back to the 70s. The website indicates they were added in 1982, so getting close to 40 years on the chairbacks.

I don't care if the new head coach has never heard of NIU, or thinks it's Northern Iowa, as long as he comes here and WINS dammit! Novak was the only coach we've had in the last 50 years who had any allegiance to NIU so let's not worry about who's going to stay for the long term.

Hammock has all sorts of experience everywhere - Wisconsin, Minnesota, the NFL!

but if that wouldn't work- or either way, I agree that a successful lower level head coach is the way to go. I had an EXCELLENT list a couple of years ago of those guys. Sadly, they are all snatched up now. So, have to remake the list. But, that's what this thread is for.

Depends what Mr. Hammock wants. NIU's HC opportunity migh mean a big pay cut. Agree he would be a great choice if he was interested.

After all these years I wonder if Hammock has ever gone after a head coaching job. Has he ever been the offensive coordinator or just the RB coach in college and NFL?

Would love to see him here. Solid guy with NFL experience. MD will not keep Canada. Would definitely like an offensive minded coach. If it opened would be a well sought opening with excellent canidates.

I’ll take a cardboard cut out of Fleck on the sidelines over Carey

I nominate the guy who sits behind me. He seems to know everything that Carey is doing wrong, even when the Huskies are ahead by thirty.

Whoa....not funny

Having all of Chicagoland hate you and refuse to send recruits would be rough....but having a star on offense would be interesting though
