That's one of the lists I used to plan my schedule this year. By that list, I'm going to #s 1, 3, 5, 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, 21.

Next year, I'm picking up 2, 6, 7, 8, 11, 15, 18, 19, 23, 24.

The others are too far away (west of the Rockies or in North Dakota), or will be picked up later (Army).

Funny, I'm headed to Gainesville in the morning. Been on their Rivals board all week. Those guys don't seem to think they have one of the better tailgates. We'll see.

When those trees grow up, that place will be spectacular.

Yes - South Carolina Gamecocks number 2. It definitely is a great place to tailgate and a great game day experience. Have been making the annual 12 hour trip to a game again for the last 10 years. 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana COGS COGS COGS COGS 04-cheers

Cool. Maybe next year you can give me some tips right before I go there. I can't wait to see the 14 Cockabooses, lol.

Best wishes, take it easy, listen to your body, and good luck to your Tigers (except for one game).

Thank you. I'm not out of the woods yet. Have to stay on a strict low sodium diet, exercise, take my meds without fail, etc.

Two biggest issues are driving all those miles, and eating low sodium diet. I can't remain long sitting or standing without my feet being propped up, or my ankles swell like balloons, which means my heart isn't pumping fast enough to clear out all the salt and water. That means frequent breaks off my feet, and propped up, both driving and at tailgates.

Second issue is diet. I do great at home. Eating out is tough. It's amazing how much sodium is in everything out there. Almost no fast food places where I can eat anything without busting my daily sodium intake.

I'll just have to figure it out best I can. My doc says I'm good enough now to give it a go.

I'm really looking forward to this. Always wanted to do it.

I have a feeling you'll figure it out. Life seems to work like that sometimes.

If you need to eat out, you could try going to an elementary school cafeteria. I ate at my son's a few times over the last few years and i think they have a "zero tolerance" policy for salt there.

Hmm, never thought of that. I do have a plan plotted out for each meal for this first weekend, though.

Funny this subject should come up. I had some serious health issues earlier this year (congestive heart failure, had to wear a defib vest), and thought for awhile I wouldn't make it. Somehow, I made a pretty miraculous recovery, but it made me think what I wanted to do with whatever time I have left.

I love sports, travel and food, so I decided to make a tour of as many CFB tailgates as I could, and maybe pick up a few other fun things along the way.

I'm retired and with a fixed income, of course, and I saved for 2 years to do this, but to fund it past the first year or so, I bought a nice Canon T6 and plan to post videos on Youtube, and after awhile perhaps I will make enough in ad revenue and sponsorships to continue my trek, as long as my health permits.

My first trip starts Saturday morning. My cardiologist actually is encouraging it, says being active is good, as long as I watch my sodium intake (and my liquids, lol), and take frequent breaks both driving and walking around.

To get as many viewers as possible, I am starting with the biggest schools/fan bases first (and also the ones not a million miles from my home outside Auburn, AL). I am just attending the tailgates, not the games, to save money and time. Anybody can watch the games on TV, not so much the tailgates.

I plan to do vignettes on whatever peeps want to talk about: food, drink, tailgate rigs, products they use, why they do this, etc.

Essentially I go out for the weekend, then back home a few days, then out again, from now until CFB ends Thanksgiving. Then I'm off more or less until next Feb. for the Daytona 500 infield party, then some MLB spring training in March, and so on...

Here is my tentative schedule through New Year's Day:

9/8 Kentucky at Florida

9/15 UTEP at Tennessee (+ MTSU at Georgia later that day on my way home, if I have time)

9/22 Clemson at Ga Tech
9/23 Saints at Falcons + the CFB HoF

9/28 Memphis at Tulane
9/29 Ole Miss at LSU

10/4 Memphis Madness
10/6 Auburn at Miss State

10/13 Tennessee at Auburn
10/14 Talladega 500

10/20 Wake at Florida State
10/21 Texans at Jags

10/27 FL-GA in Jacksonville
10/28 Blue Angels Air Show

11/3 Louisville at Clemson
11/4 Bucs at Panthers

11/8-12 World Food Championships, Orange Beach, AL

11/17 OFF

11/22 Miss State at Ole Miss
11/23 Houston at Memphis
11/24 Auburn at Alabama

*****

12/2 Jets at Titans
12/3 Golden State Warriors at Atlanta Hawks

*****

12/30 Falcons at Bucs
12/31 Taxslayer Gator Bowl
1/1 Citrus Bowl
This is awesome!!!

You're going to love 9/23

Thanks. I lived in Atlanta for 33 years, and still have a daughter and grandkids there. Only live about 110 miles south of downtown even now, near Auburn.

I'm a huge Braves, Falcons and Hawks fan, and it's an easy trip for me, so I am always going to have Atlanta in my rotation.

I loved Turner Field, plan to get to SunTrust next year. Also will make the Memphis-GSU game when it rolls around. I attended the '96 Olympics before they converted Turner Field to baseball, so I'm interested to see how you guys did it for football.

And I'm doing GA Tech early so I can visit the Varsity, lol.
See if you can make a GSU game soon

I plan to go when Memphis plays there. Easy trip for me from Auburn.

One of the things I'm doing is not wearing any Memphis gear anywhere I go. Or any school gear at all.

I'm also taking my Memphis plate off the front of my truck, lol. No need to get my truck keyed or my tires slashed.

Whatever place I'm at, that's who I'm pulling for that day. Momma din't raise no dummy.

At any rate, I should be able to give first hand opinions about a lot of tailgates before long. It is a passion of mine.

And I plan to fit in AAC tailgating as I follow Memphis on the road when possible.

Any suggestions about my plan are welcome. Schedule pretty well locked in, but tips on how best to deal with the travel part, etc. would help me out.

AAA, hey that sounds like a plan!! Praying for ya, big guy!

Thanks, man. I can use all the support and encouragement from all quarters that I can get.

I think it will be great fun. Can't wait to get started.

Smart man. I attended the Memphis game at TN Knoxville De'Angelo's final season.

I kid you not, your dear sweet looking average grandmother flipped me the middle finger at a 4-way stop the day I arrived in Knoxville. She had an angry look in her face that I was present. We were flying a Tiger window flag and I was wearing Memphis gear.

The car dealerships were flying orange and white balloons everywhere. Some of us attend church on Sundays to worship God. They attend The Church of Neyland Stadium to worship the Tennessee Volunteers during college football season.

Gotta say I’m envious of the space you guys have there for something like this. UH has scatter tailgates in all of our parking lots which surround the campus. But there’s some potential for Cullen Blvd. Hopefully our admin can pull off something like that in the limited space we have.

It's been beaten like a dead horse but another factor that's hurt UH's tailgating the last few seasons are all these 11am games.

I don't know the numbers but seems like most of our home games the last few seasons have either been morning starts or Thursday night games. Both make it tough to tailgate.

I will when I get my channel set up. Yesterday was my first day to shoot. Once I edit and post, I'll link it. Might take a week or two. Have to learn the software.
