Speaking of comparing networks, CBS has outdone ESPN quite a few times this year. What could ESPN learn from CBS??

Get the SEC game of the week. That's all it is.

RE: 2018 Top Rated College Football games
so saw top game last weekend was the Ohio St/Maryland game. Just behind the Texas/Oklahoma game rating wise. Will be interesting to see final viewers numbers to see if it cracks the top 10....

eh, not really. A few years ago the top game was Alabama/Auburn on ESPN. It's all a matter of who has the top games.

but as a general rule, OTA will have higher ratings than the same game on a network.

RE: 2018 Top Rated College Football games
saw Michigan/Ohio St got a 8 rating. Top game of the year so far. However, it was down 23% from 2016 when they were both in the top 3.

Notre Dame/USC got a 5.1 rating. That will get them on the list almost for sure.

no numbers yet for Alabama/Auburn..

ESPN Media Zone says "Notre Dame at USC (8 p.m. ET) delivered a total live audience of 7,809,000 viewers, the most-watched Fighting Irish game on any network since the then-record-setting opening weekend audience for Notre Dame at Texas on ABC (Sept. 4, 2016). Among all November prime-time games, the nearly eight million viewers is best on ESPN’s networks since the 2014 season."

So, ND has more Top 10 watched games than three entire conferences......are they still "irrelevant"?

May very well be 1 by end of season- as you would expect Big 12, SEC, and Big Ten title games to surpass the Michigan/ND game this week- and then Army/Navy next week could easily beat it.

What's remarkable about Notre Dame - USC is that one of the teams, USC, was unranked and totally out of any national playoff or major bowl situations. All the games ranked above this game, and just about all below, involved matchups between two very highly ranked teams both with lots to play for.

Basically, a huge number of people tuned in to see if Notre Dame could complete an undefeated season and clinch a playoff berth.

Also, this list is now complete for the regular season, save for Army-Navy. The CCGs should not be listed with these games, rather should be on a list of post-season games along with the bowls.

Sorry, but no. CCG's are considered as part of the regular season- factored in to who goes to bowl games. So no, this list ISN'T complete.

RE: 2018 Top Rated College Football games
I was wondering what the ratings were for the LSU vs TAMU game last Saturday night, and was told by a local ESPN outlet that the SECN games aren't rated. They just don't measure game ratings for it.

Didn't know that. 07-coffee3

WOW, saw the SEC title game up 25% from last year in the national overnight ratings. Highest rated college football game regular season in 7 years.... Would be about 18 million viewers....

Not surprising as it was just about a perfect matchup in terms of blue bloods, rankings, and implications.
