UCA had a really terrific defensive line that gave us fits. Biggest concern for me going forward will be our line in pass protection. We played a pretty solid game (minus a couple turnovers) and they still hung around way too long. I think they'll do really well in the FCS this year. That being said, I think we're a different team than last season.

Thought I'd throw in a couple encouraging stats for the defense. We had the fewest yards allowed since UCF part 1 in 2012 at 247 ( I think) yards. And didn't let them convert a single 3rd down. 0 for 10. The only team in the country to do that this week. I think we only allowed 20 points on defense and it may have been less without costly turnovers and penalties.

This is encouraging for a defense that has struggled, even if it was an FCS team.

We need to clean up the penalties and turnovers. Also the pass blocking has to be better so Skipper has time for read progression. Hope we improve 200% this week.

Yeah the O-line issues puzzled me, they were suppose to be a strength this year. It may have been that it was the first game and trouble getting in sync, while UCA had a game to work out troubles on defense. Defenses tend to have fewer hiccups then offenses do and by game two you know what you have. Offenses can take a little longer with more moving parts. Hopefully they come out and play better. I like Tulsa's chances of an upset vs Texas if the team does clean up the penalties and turnovers.

Oh please, please fix the penalty problems before we roll into Tulsa in 10 days. We've got our own penalty issues, and the last time we faced another team with penalty issues, it led to a 4 hour game against Utah State that I'm pretty sure set College Football back a decade.

You should've seen the flag fest we had with SMU 2 years ago. And it went into OVERTIME too.

Our game with Utah State up in Logan 2 years ago somehow managed to set a school record for penalties for both teams. It was truly awful to watch. If we end up canning Blake Anderson soon enough, that game is probably going to be exhibit 1, 2, and 3.
