Too bad CBSSN isn't rated. I bet the Bayou Bucket was somewhere between Louisville-Alabama and Washington-Auburn. I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure we can all agree that's the case.

UCF vs UCONN Game sets multiple viewing records on ESPNU for UCF, AAC and ESPNU

Pretty dang impressive!

Some UCF ESPNU records:

Largest crowd every to watch a UCF Game on ESPNU, attracting 444,000 viewers, breaking their ESPNU record of 380,000 for the ESPNU Game vs South Carolina in 2015.

It was the highest rated ESPNU Thursday Night Season Opener in 5 years for ESPN.

It was the most watched AAC game ever on ESPNU, breaking the previous record for the UCONN vs then #18 ECU Game in 2014.

Last year, the largest ESPNU AAC Game TV viewership was for the Navy at Memphis game that attracted 295,000 viewers.

No major competition except for bed-time on the East Coast.

I did watch and enjoyed the second half of the Cincy-UCLA game. Regardless of whether UCLA is any good this year, it's a solid road win on ESPN primetime. Good for Cincinnati and for the conference.

Thats exactly why I think the MW is going to be SOL on their next contract. Thier biggest asset is those late night games---but those late might games are of limited value as there is effectively a glass ceiling on how many viewers they might get. ESPN already has the Pac12 and BYU as their primary late night inventory. So, how much is ESPN really going to pay for late night filler for ESPN-U and ESPN-News for a slot where 80% of the country is already asleep? I think the MW gets the same pay or a small raise at best.

That’s a pretty good showing all things considered. I’m sure Chip Kelly helped, but playing a good close game on the road should give UC and the conference good visibility.

I wish there was some way the ACC could trade UNC for UC. The American could have the UNC/ECU rivalry in house plus UNC/UConn in hoops; that would leave the ACC with UC/UL and UC/Pitt, and down to just 3 teams in NC - a good trade all around, IMO.

Alas, it will never happen.

It makes much more sense for the ACC to trade VaTech for UC.

It won’t look so good in a few weeks, UCLA is brutally lousy this year and will probably finish last in their division. For now though it looks good,

As long as UC wins, the ratings should do well in conference.

I agree.we need Cincy to get back up to speed. For prestige and ratings, especially with contract negotiations starting. 04-cheers

I truly think we are. I don't say that just as a UC homer, as I try to stay on the level about my teams for my own sanity.

After watching the attitude shift this past off season and the drive we had in the first game, I truly believe Fickell will have us back competing at the top of the conference. It almost doesn't matter if UCLA is any good, just seeing the shift in the players is what sold me. Watching a team under Tuberville vs Fickell is now night and day.

His recruiting speaks for itself and I believe he will continue to be able to pull those non-top tier recruits in the Ohio area that don't go to OSU. I think he has some way to go as a coach, but I think you saw with those 4th down calls that he is willing to risk a lot to send a message to his team in order to win them over. I love that it worked, these guys are going to rally around playing for a coach that believes in them after having a guy that couldn't care less for so long.

Long story short, I look forward to competing for division and conference titles, likely starting next year. I think this year is a 7-5 type transition year. The good news is that with UCLA out of the way, there is a possibility of us going 4-0 OOC which helps the conference a lot.

Appreciate the kind words. Obviously, we would love that, but UNC has the significant advantage of being the flagship university of a large state. Hard to match that inherent advantage. A better comparison might be NC State.

I think UC would fit in perfectly with the ACC, being a large city school with very good academics and a power research arm. The Big East was a pretty good fit and getting back with UofL, Pitt, Syracuse would be great.

That said, if we can't join there, and let's be real, we likely aren't, I've learned to like the American a fair amount. I think the teams that make up the top half of the conference are a really good fit that can carve out a niche in the new athletic structure as a bridge between the lower and power conferences.

Is there a consensus on how DVR impacts TV ratings vs watching it live? I always set my DVR to record every AAC game figuring it can only help the conference ratings.

It doesn't help unless you have a Neilson box attached to your cable box/TV.
