How can UTEPid be tied for the bottom with the Ouch! when UTEPid already beat the Ouch!?

Didn't beat them hard enough, probably

This ^^^

Plus I believe a 65-0 scoreless run for UTEP between mid third quarter of the Rice game (0-23 to let the blowout game get back to within one score) followed by 0-42 first half against WKU. That alone should qualify any team for a one-way do-not-pass-go do-not-collect-$200 express pass to level nine.

Glad to have some company down here.

Wonder if we'll "improve" today?

I’d be willing to retroactively claim ODU as a rivalry game on account of them unceremoniously knocking us off our perch as CUSA champs in their very first CUSA game.

Ending nation’s longest losing streak— move up a level.

Anyway... our tough crowd fan base is remarkably upbeat today. Good to end on a high note regardless of the misery index...

RE: CUSA Fan Misery Index
Good morning, here is your FINAL (for most?) update. Maybe there will be one after the bowl season. Hit me up if I missed a rivalry game during rivalry week...

Moved up: MTSU, USM
Moved down: UAB, FAU

A Team's Fans go UP a level if they:

- beat their rival
- put together a 3 game win streak
- put together a 5 game win streak
- beat a ranked team
- beat a P5 team
- beat an FBS team by 21 or more
- win the division

A Team's Fans go DOWN a level if they:

- lose to their rival
- put together a 3 game losing streak
- put together a 5 game losing streak
- lose to any FCS opponent
- lose any game by 21 points or more
- fail to become bowl eligible

Level 1:
FIU
Marshall
North Texas

Level 2:
MTSU (won by 21 or more; win division)
UAB (lost by 21 or more)
USM (won by 21 or more)

Level 3:
n/a

Level 4:
Charlotte
La Tech

Level 5:
FAU (fail to become bowl eligible)

Level 6:
ODU

Level 7:
UTSA

Level 8:
WKU

Level 9:
Rice
UTEP

RE: CUSA Fan Misery Index
A couple of notes:

1. Fun fact: every team started at Level 3, now there is no team there

2. UAB and MT won the west/east, yet didn't finish at Level 1

3. Charlotte fired their head coach, yet finished at Level 4

A few lesson's learned for next year, should anyone pick this thing up:

1. Never again will I include rivarly games. Sorry. They just don't quite work here. Nobody can come to a consensus on what the true rivalry games are (I strongly believe if you think you have multiple rivals, then you have none)

2. Wasn't sure if the cap on loss streaks should extend beyond 5.

3. I think moving up multiple levels in one week should be acceptable. MT would finish at level 1 if that were the case, for example.

I think we are positioned right. If we beat UAB 2.0 then a move to #1 is warranted. I would say add another criteria. Eliminated from division race would move you down one even if it's not a third straight loss. I guessing FIU and Marshall don't feel like a #1 right now.

Here's a way to fix the rivalry issue. If the rivalry has a name or a trophy then it's a rivalry.

So for sure...
100 Miles of Hate
Rivalry in Dixie
Shula Bowl

Doesn't have to be a conf game either.
If Marshall plays Ohio or UTEP/NMSU. Those count.

I like that rule. It's certainly better than how I handled it this year

RE: CUSA Fan Misery Index
I'm not sure how to factor it in or quantify it, but losing to WKU has sent the Tech fanbase over the edge. There is probably still some hangover effect from the USM game, but losing to a 2-9 WKU team has really pushed us over the edge. Maybe there should be a level move for upsets.

Beat a team favored by more than 1 score - move up a level
Lose to a team when favored by more than 1 score - move down a level.

I don't actually know how much we were favored, but I assume we were.
