Beating Purdue this week.

OR
Beating Toledo at home.

Which would you rather have if you could only pick one? I pick beating toledo in front of a good home crowd and it may propel us to a Mac West championship and trip to Ford Field.

Tough one, but I will probably go with beating Toledo too. We're due to hand them an L at home. Knock some of their egos down a size.

Either would be great, though. I will say that NIU didn't look all that hot against Iowa last week and I would LOVE to beat them too at home.

Tough question. I lean towards the Purdue win because of the instant credibility and attention EMU would get from beating a Big 10 team 2 years in a row. Maybe even some of the EMU folks that only root for UM would pay attention.

Toledo. Becoming a conference championship contender is more important than one-off OOC wins.

i remember everything about EMU beating Purdue in basketball five years ago. i'll take the win over a big ten team because i'll still remember it in 20 years.

After some soul searching, etc. I'll go with Aaron on this one.

My BIG reason:

The Purdue game is early season; the Toledo game is mid-October. Who knows what our record will be then?

In other words, the TOL game has mean, mostly, based on the MAC games before it.

IF we beat UB, NIU and WMU then I would 100% take a win over TOL over a win vs. Purdue.

I do believe that contending for the MAC West is the ultimate goal for this season and seasons to come.

Purdue and I had to think .2378 seconds to decide. Obviously, if you can beat a Big 10 team you're gonna take that win over any regular season MAC game any day of the week.

I agree with you, Aaron, for this reason:

Not only will you remember it in 20 years, but MILLIONS of CFB fans will remember it tomorrow.

I have no idea how many fans watched the game live on BTN, but I think 'hundreds of thousands' isn't unrealistic. I assume most BTN games may have viewerships of 250k, 500K or more depending on the teams playing.

I'll guess maybe 250K watched it. Maybe 500K might watch Wisconsin, UofM, OSU, PSU, etc. vs. an OOC opponent on BTN.

Then our game got play across the entire panorama of B1G games today which blankets the entire Midwest.

I didn't watch WMU/UofM but I'm sure those who did saw a lot of our game.

Can't do much better than to beat a B1G team which went to a bowl game in 2017.

No question the win over Purdue. Google ‘EMU Football’ right now and a ton of news articles pop up including Sports Illustrated. Google ‘EMU Football’ after a Toledo win, and the first reseult is probably a Wikipedia page.

The university invests so heavily into sports (too heavily for some), and the biggest reason is that it is very expansive advertisement. Name recognition is important in this world- which pays too much attention to sports.
