Voters in L.A. trying to put a better spin on the Bruins' loss? Who cares really, it's great to see "Cincinnati" on screen and if the Bearcats take care of business the next three games they'll start climbing that ladder.

Heh... They do seem to be of the mind that UCLA lost that game, more so than Cincinnati won it. I think that's silly, but whatever. Glad to be in the national conversation in a positive light.

Actually, no. This is the Coaches Poll, and Chip Kelly isn't one of the 65 who vote. It could be that one coach put as at 23rd, thus the 3 points. Hopefully, it's multiple coaches putting us 25th. Unfortunately, we didn't get any AP votes.

More like that three of these voters helped out a conference mate:

Ken Niumatalolo
Major Applewhite
Charlie Strong
Willie Fritz
Geoff Collins

I'll never understand how a 0-1 team is ahead of a 1-0 team. Polls are stupid yet influential.

You don't think there some 0-1 teams that are better than UC?

Totally agree. Liberty > Washington; UMass > Michigan; UL-Monroe > Miami, FL.

Funny thing is, I could easily see UC beating Miami (OH), Alabama A&M, Ohio University, Connecticut, Tulane and Temple. Wonder how many we would have to win to reach the Top25? Wonder how high we would be at 7-0? Hope we beat Miami.

Once those 0-1 teams win a game then yeah, of course a 1-1 team with a win over a better opponent should be ranked ahead of a 2-0 team that hasn't beaten anyone. But not before then. Half of the teams in the top-25 haven't proven anything and are there for ESPN ratings etc

We need to beat Miami for any of our exuberance to be justified.

If we're undefeated through the Ohio game, and UCLA somehow manages 2-2 out of their first four, I think we're ranked in Week #5. Those are both HUUUUUGE ifs, since we have two tough tests and it would require UCLA to beat Fresno State and Colorado or shock the world to beat Oklahoma.

After ucf getting hosed last year they should be banding together as absolute homers for conference teams. Overrate everybody to compensate the disrespect given by others.

The other conferences do it. It's all about playing the game when it comes to polls.

I could see that too. Alternately, drop to 1-1 against Miami and then face what should be a stronger OU team in two weeks it could become a 2-2 record with two losses to the MAC. Ouch; hope that's not the case.

This is a consequence of our great run from 2007-2012. Without the respect we earned then, we would be getting zero votes.
